Life, SIMs, and Signal: A Nigerian Network Struggle

Back in the days we could easily say one of the good things that ever happened to us is having different network providers in this country, I just don't want to imagine how it would have been if we only depend on one and how it will be monopolized just to their own gain. Back then, I only knew of two network and it really felt like they were on a battleground competing against each other, anywhere you are you will either see Glo or you see Mtn and their slogan always ring in my ear "Mtn - every where you go" and Glo - Rule your world. My dad used Glo then and those old people will be like help me get mike adenuga card, with time I saw etisalat, the vodafone and the rest but those one were just low key network providers since few people use them.

One thing I hate about these network provider is the absence of network in some area or how they are barely available, it can be so frustrating that you start getting moody if you reach an area and you don't have network, due to this situation I decided to get all sims just to be on a safe side but I use mtn majorly. I even have a rule when moving to a new place, I have to test out the area network first to see if it is good or not but somehow I got tricked, I remembered I remember checking my favorite game using mtn network when I wanted to get a new apartment and it worked perfectly until I moved in, in the day I get to browse on 500kb at times except I step out of the room to the compound before I can see 30mbps and at times 100mbps so most times when the sun is down, I'm always outside because of network and the funny part is that other network don't work well except mtn.

Nowadays we are battling with Network data which are not sufficient but really expensive, if you are not enjoying from any unlimited data, then you will be spending a lot just to secure good data and also manage how you surf the net, the rate at which data just vanish at times, it always felt as if someone is sucking it using pipes, no matter how people complain, there is no solution to it except to keep getting more data plan. I remember the day network messed me up, I had an online contest that day which come with some price and I was really prepared for it, the network was ok and I was able to do some stuff then all of a sudden, while playing the game, my network suddenly went off, the way I shouted Omg ehn, I had to check my other phone to see if there is network on it so I can on hotspot since it is still mtn and I couldn't find any, even glo network was off and didn't come back till after an hour, I was pained and I lost the match but at that point, I just wish I had access to starlink.
