Hands-On Skills, Clear Mind, and Future Opportunities

Wow! I had just stopped by the community to write on a prompt when I saw the one about "Ghost" but didn't like it that much, honestly, I don't have much to say about it. Then I got notified almost immediately about a new prompt in the community... About "Handicraft and skills".

Now, that's more like it because I sure have a whole lot to say about this. And yeah, it's an honour to be the first to share my thought on this. Before that, I'd like to say that technology has taken over a lot of things but when it comes to crafts that only the hands can do, not so much.

Do I have a craft?
Yes but I'm saying I do from a place of no practice, no acknowledgement to those crafts because after giving my time to them, I figured they are not what I really want to do as a major aspect of my life. I can make hair, I could almost sew a simple wear with a sewing machine, I could almost do a good drawing and I could make good snacks for children and some adults.

They seem a lot but if I'm being honest, I'm more confident about making hair and creating snacks than any of the rest and I bet you know why lol. Crafts are amazing, you'd be surprised what you could do with your hands especially those who create or recreate to make people look good.

And yeah, I can still remember how engaging in some crafts, even the ones I'm not good at, helps to clear my mind. I always admire those who design beads, knits or crochets, I see them as people who even have more luxury in enjoying quietness or stillness than other crafts makers.

Well, if there is one craft I would love to master, that doesn't fall into a really good example of a handicraft, it is "Storytelling". I know handicraft already kinda limit the thought to "making use of the hand" but fashion designers make use of their legs too so it's fine that I'm using my mouth.

Storytelling craft mainly needs my mouth to tell stories, my brain to capture and gather stories that I can tell. It's a beautiful skill I've had all my life but I never tapped into it to become good at it and impact lives with it. I believe every craft should have that goal, impacting through growth.

And yeah, most handicraft still need the digital world to master their skill by learning from others who have been so kind to share the process, to launch personal business or brands because we've come to understand the greater impact we'd be making with our skills in the digital world.

So yeah, these skills with hand or leg or mouth can help for quiet or reflective moments unlike the digital world but we can only embrace the digital world to make these skills do more in life than just in our small space offline. My thought!
