TRUE PURPOSE

(edited)

There are times life knocks you down to a point where you begin to ask yourself “what’s the purpose for living. I’ve seen quite a number of challenges that have shook me to my core. At one point, I asked myself what I was really living for, because when I thought about it, I was hustling everyday, bursting my ass back to back just so I could afford 3 square meals. Then I thought to myself, why don’t I just die and end this suffering because it meant no sense. And now I’m writing about it, I can’t help but wonder why life is like this. I mean, our parents did it, we are doing it too, we will bring children into this world to do it too, and the cycle goes on and on.

Growing up I used to hear people say we are destined for greatness, pastors say it too, it’s been acted in movies but now I ask myself what truly is greatness, is it popularity and fame, or wealth and power. Is that what we strive for everyday? Something only about 5% can only attain because the world would never hand over anything to you for free. I have seen people who were prophesied to be great die like it was nothing, and sometimes because we have been alive for as long as we have been we feel we are in for greatness, maybe because we even cheated death at some point.

I also ask myself why do people see these things as important, because in true sense, apart from food, water and health, nothing is really important unless we want it to be. This is why for me, purpose begins with a decision to live for something and die for something. This something might not be significant to everyone, it might not even be generally accepted, but as long as it keeps you up at night, and wakes you up in the morning, then it’s a purpose. I also think a purpose is never really fulfilled, and a fulfilled purpose is just a goal. A real purpose is passed on to another believer who strives to attain greater heights. Just like how we see technology today which was born out of a purpose to save lives and make lives better.

Honestly, your take on purpose? That it doesn't have to be something big, just something to get you up and going in the morning, is so real. I think sometimes we forget that our purpose doesn't have to impress people but ourselves.
Hustling everyday just to survive and then wondering if it's even worth it, is a position I've been in more times than I would like to say

Gbam! I love how you took on the prompt, you've said it all really. Greatness varies according to how you define it for yourself, it could be mere being able to afford your bills and also help others around you and that is something great that not many can do.

Yeah right, just as long you see value in it.

Omo. Life can be really brutal o. Life can be harsh and wicked, but as long as you have people who motivate you, thinks become easier.
For me, my siblings and parents are my motivations.

That's good to know. People who believe in your purpose are always good to have around
