AN IMPENDING DOOM

As much as I love technology so much, I am not one of those who would decide to neglect some of its adverse effects due to how much I enjoy using tech. I like to see and talk about both the good, the bad, and the ugly side of technology and right now, when it comes to the invention of virtual reality, it’s something that sounded like a good idea at first, but when you look at its adverse effect to human nature and behavioural pattern, I fear it is like a time bomb waiting to explode. At the end of the day even though the idea behind virtual reality looks great, I fear for the weapon humans will turn it into.

When people talk about virtual reality they talk about taking user experience to the next level, but what no one is talking about is the fact that there are already a lot of dangerous contents that the world is already battling with, now imagine having great experience with those kinds of contents. Imagine what it would do to the brain, imagine how humans will become even more isolated than they already are because they are getting the experience of their lives from technology. Now someone would ask is this enough for this kind of technology to be banned and abandoned?

Now I would also not advise banning or neglecting this kind of tech because it will change the way we view the world. I can imagine how it will help pupils who lack the ability to concentrate in school and how it can help humans understand things in ways that we can’t even begin to imagine. So I would say such tech should be strictly monitored in order to filter its uses. If what can be watched through virtual reality can be safely guarded, it will do this generation and the next generation a lot of good.
