BUDGETING IS HARD, BUT SO IS CHAOS

There is one particular quote that I always think about when it comes to doing well at something, and it says, “Failing to plan means planning to fail.” Most times, we easily tell ourselves that we didn’t plan anything, but in the actual sense, we actually planned not to plan when we do not plan. Yes, life can be overwhelming sometimes, but that’s part of it. Still finding the strength to go on in the midst of chaos is something we need to do, and trust me, it won’t be easy, but you will only appreciate it if you keep going and don’t give up.

For this second edition of the SciFi prompt, PERSONAL BUDGETING, we are asked to share our thoughts about it, and for me, I’ll say personal budgeting is a must-do. It is something that we easily neglect as a result of little funds and urgencies of things, but we often suffer more from not budgeting than not. Looking at the way things are going in different parts of the world, almost everything seems unsure. One moment you are certain about something, but the next moment you aren’t sure anymore. We literally live with uncertainties, and that fear is crippling us in so many ways, even in our financial life.

One problem we often have when it comes to budgeting is that we think we don’t have enough funds to start budgeting with. We rather just go about our daily activities and accept whatever comes, and honestly, this feels like it’s working, but it doesn’t at all. It gets to a point when we start feeling helpless and overwhelmed. Everything starts to feel too much and unbearable. Being able to do personal budgeting doesn’t require us to have so much money first. It is us realizing what we need and what we can do without at every point in our lives.

There are some basic needs that we know we can’t afford to do without for a long time, whether or not we are financially capable of them. But when we start mixing those things up with things that we can do without, we find ourselves in a bigger mess than we should have been. So personal budgeting helps you realize the things that are of ultimate importance to you and how to manage the ones that aren’t. I do personal budgeting sometimes, but I’m still a victim of impulse spending, and that is something I’m still working on.

So what about you? Are you still struggling with planning personal budgets, or have you figured out a way forward from lack of budgeting? Please come share with us.

Thank you for reading through. đź’ś

You've highlighted the main consequence we face when we refuse to make personal budgets to guide our daily monthly expenses - always getting into avoidable fixes. That consequence indeed hurts us more ways than we can imagine. Personally, I'm still trying to be better with my budget. It's hard but achievable, and I'm glad I've been making progress.

Many people fail to understand that you can start budgeting no matter how small the funds you are getting might be.

Yeah. That’s why we miss it most times.

So much to digest, personal budgeting is a reality for us. I do personal budgeting a lot because it helps me to focus on my important needs and avoid reckless spending. Though sometimes impulse purchasing may increase my budget plan. Thank you for sharing.
