When Time Stares Me in the Face and Asks, “What Have You Done With Me?

There is this popular saying I usually say, "Time is money but money cannot buy time." Time is so precious that every seconds lost cannot be regained.

If you ask me what time is, I will say that it is the unseen architect of our lives. Ask me why? In every choice and decisions that we make as humans, time is a witness. In breath that we take, I'm all the goals that we decide to go after, all the dreams we let go or abandon, time will always be a silent witness to it all because it is not just ticking, it is the unseen designer, builder, planner and supervisor of our lives.

When we were young or while growing up, they usually tell us that over time, things will get healed and back to normal, time waits for no man because it flies. But unfortunately, we were not ready for what times comes with, the emotional weight that surrounds wasting time, those endless hours lost we spend while scrolling, conversations without energy and enthusiasm, and decisions we have no courage of defy to take.

On a different level, I have been a purposeful person and also a procrastinator, I have been in those shoes. I have shifted things that needed my urgent attention to later, I have woken up with regrets because I slept beside guilt of not doing things I need to do on time. But there were days when I was able to find diamond within 24 hours that I was given, I set out a goal, finished it, started another one, created meaningful connections and hadba lovely and superb rest afterwards.

But do I think that been given 24 hours to work with in a day is enough? Well, on some days when my mind is in alignment with my soul, it is enough. While on some days, I will look as if time escapes through an open sieve used to collect water. But over the time, i have come to an conclusion that it is not about the number of hours but about how active I am physically, mentally and emotionally within those hours.

After I am done with my jobs and assignments, I always try to get and regain the time for quiet and stillness, for imagination and ingenuity, for prayers, for just looking at the sky transforms its colour. To me personally, I do not want life to just go away in a smudge of been productive without being present.

Trying to please everyone but myself, comparing myself to others, regret and overthinking, these are the things that I see as waste of time.

Time is infinite and will continue to tick because there is no pause to it. So every morning I wake up, I usually tell myself, so as for time and you not to look at the past and cry, what will you to today?
