I travel a lot and Living in Abuja has given me an opportunity to explore. I've seen great buildings with beautiful interiors and all I can do is wish I own one of these buildings. There are a few things that attract me to a house aside from the interior designs, which is one of the most important things I consider in owning a house of my own. I love whatever is simple, a few chairs and tables, then a shelf and probably a mini bar where I sit to take a drink.
Jam-packed houses don't illuminate the beauty of a house even when the interior is perfect. One of my wealthy uncles who's late now has a house well decorated in and out. Millions were spent to decorate the house into what he wanted but he was married to four wives who had a lot of properties to keep. The jam-packed load unfortunately hid the beauty of the room. The less jam-packed the rooms are, the more beautiful it looks. So I love a simple parlour with good interior design.
I also love a house with a swimming pool in it. I may not use it often, but I love the settings carrying a pool. I once visited a house where I went to work, the compound was big. The man had a bar and a swimming pool there and also a shade he made for relaxation. Knowing I have a place I can relax or come out to swim, gives me a special feeling. I'll like my compound to be big, this is for my kids to play. I fancy a house where a big space is kept aside for recreational purposes.
Finally, lightning is a must. View a building with a sufficient lighting system at night and you'll feel as if you're in paradise. Even if a house is not too classic, a good lightning provided to it will make it look like a paradise. I like houses with different colors of light and plenty of lights channeled into every corner of the house. It itself makes a room comfortable to sleep in and beautiful to behold.
I don't like storey buildings, I prefer a well designed flat with a big parlour, a big kitchen, a big bathroom and toilet, then three bedrooms, a study room, and a store. The floor was designed with 3D wallpaper and the ceiling made with white POP cement with lightning fixed into it. In conclusion, I like a well designed flat with great interior design with a large compound to set up a swimming pool and basketball court.
I think I like your kind of dream house, except for the swimming pool. A big house without a recreational area, a garden, is nothing but a monument, lol.
So you don't like swimming pools?

I heard living in Abuja can be really expensive, how do you people cope.
There are affordable places.
It only depends on where you want to live in Abuja
Places like gwagwalada? Will the rent be too high there?
