MY CULTURE MY HERITAGE

HELLO EVERYONE WELCOME TO MY BLOG

Culture, as we all were taught back then in primary and secondary school, can be defined as the people’s way of life which includes their food, greetings and festivals. Culture plays a vital role in uniting people together. Culture is what makes everyone unique in their own way amongst others.

Our cultural heritage is beautiful in its diversified ways we have 3 ethnic groups which are the Igbo, Yoruba and Hausa. There are four types of culture clan culture, adhocracy culture, market culture and hierarchy culture. Culture is made up of the following symbols, norms, values and artifacts that are peculiar to a particular culture.

I think culture is a group of people who come together to share their goals, norms, values, love and food together to socialize and bond as a group or community. So many illustrious sons of the land who are not within their ethnic group and communities always make it a point of duty to return home during the festival periods because this is a time when they are being called back to their roots to share love with friends and family and refresh their mind on their norms and have a taste of their local delicacies, as it strengthens them to live in peace and unity.

I am from Nigeria, Abia state Isi ala Ngwa north local government area. We have various ways in which we express our culture. We are full time farmers we produce crops that range from palm oil, cassava, cocoyam and corn.

Our festival seasons comprises of ikoro dance festival, ekpe and our masquerade festival. We also practice the new yam festival, our special delicacy includes the popular ofe ukazi and achara, asusu (cornmeal), ukazi agwolu agwo.

I love Yorubas for their Owambe parties that are their extravagant parties, I love their amala ,ewedu and gbegiri. I want to try it out one day. Their dress sense is always on point; they also display so much respect in their greeting patterns.

My appreciation for this weekly prompt to share my opinion on culture,
Thank you for stopping by my blog today.

Interesting how traditional tribe rites got mixed with Christian traditions! So Nigeria is a bit influenced by the European colonization
