[Movie] [Movie] Miracles from Heaven (2016): When a Dead End Becomes a New Beginning

I recently had the opportunity to watch Miracles from Heaven, and to be honest, this is definitely one of those movies that reminds us that sometimes what seems like a dead end might go on to be the beginning of a miracle and great things ahead. I learnt the movie is based on a real-life experience of a young girl known as Anna Beam. Overall, the movie is based on many things, such as family, illness, faith and unbelievable healing and recovery.

So, like I said, the story is based on the life of a young girl, Anna, that suffered from what is said to be a rare illness, and as the story proceeded, we saw that her condition became so severe that the doctors themselves struggled to find a solution. Despite the fact that she's undergoing thorough pain, the treatment doesn't seem to yield any positive changes, leaving her family to watch helplessly as her health continues to deteriorate.

I'm intrigued by not just the situation of Anna's illness but also how her situation affects her family, the mother especially. To be honest, no parent would want to find themselves in such situations, and that's exactly what we saw in her mother, who was going through serious mental health issues due to the situation and having to transfer her from one hospital to another with the hope of getting better results; it's one of the most difficult things anyone can experience. That aspect is where the movie presents the aspects of faith, love and hope that help the family to keep trusting and never give up even when everything seems hopeless.

The scene involving the old tree in the family yard is definitely the most unbelievable part of the story for me; however, it still happens to be the turning point of the situation. Anna fell into the tree while having a good time with her sister, and that on its own seems like the beginning of another tragedy, because she was there for about an hour, if not more, before the rescue team came and couldn't cut the tree but had to dive in themselves to fetch her out, but they don't want to give their parents any hope, knowing she fell in headfirst from that height and has been there for a hell of a time.

That part got me thinking about how we often judge situations way too quickly, because what happened next helped me see that what seems like a disaster one minute might become the very thing that turns the tides around in the next minute. Alongside that, I also learnt in the movie that having faith or believing doesn't mean you won't face any challenges or difficulties, because we can be fervent in prayer and yet continue to cry. Overall, I learnt that losing faith doesn't mean you've lost your faith and that having faith is choosing to keep going despite having doubts and fear. Not forgetting the family aspects of the storyline, which show that when one person in a family is going through difficult times, it naturally goes on to affect everyone around them, and it shows that having people who genuinely love us and would do anything for us is one of the best gifts anyone can have.

The movie isn't just about the girl falling sick, having a near-death experience and recovering to a perfect state of health; personally, for me, it's a message that we should never allow our present situation to make us reach the conclusion that our story is over or can't get better. Because in this world we will always present ourselves with things we won't understand today and would most likely understand tomorrow, so sometimes what we need to do is to sometimes hold on a little longer because a difficult season is not the same thing as the end of the story; when there's life, there's definitely hope.
