[Movie] Movie Review: Beast Of Two Worlds.

Today, we will be talking about the movie "Beast Of Two Worlds." A very interesting movie, I must say, one that revolves around revenge, the throne, the past, and the supernatural forces. Beast Of Two Worlds is the story of a king, King Towobola, who had to fight a war he knew nothing about; he just happened to be caught up in something that had happened in the past.

But even before all of that, there are things that have happened that actually led the story that way. One is that this king has three wives, and all of them have given birth to just females, but as a king he needs a son, a male child who would be king after him. He tried all his best and nothing seems to be showing forth, his wives kept on giving birth to females.

At a point, the throne became threatened, as he was told that if he failed to produce an heir, then he would have no option but to let go, and then he became even more desperate. And that was how he met Adaralewa. King Towobola and Adaralewa got married even though a lot of people were against it, and the main reason was that nobody knows the genesis of this lady in question. No one knows her origin, and they all felt the king shouldn't have married someone who's not known and cannot be traced to any family. But as you could have rightly guessed, this lady isn't that natural either. I mean, she's someone with supernatural powers.

Not long after, Adaralewa became pregnant and conceived; guess what, she gave birth to a bouncing baby boy. Everybody was happy, and the king felt fulfilled, but then Adaralewa did something that was questionable: she picked up her son and intentionally threw him into the fire. Everybody was amazed. Why, what could have happened? Why do that? You know how tensed the palace was before and how happier it is now that a son is now in our midst. But then, they decided to let that go and give her another opportunity. Again she got pregnant and gave birth to another son, and again she threw this one into the river.

From this little, I'm sure you can tell the movie will be a very interesting one, right? It was later it was revealed that Adaralewa ain't just any kind of person, she's actually connected to a powerful creature known as Ajakaju, and along the line it shows that it is also connected to the king and all that has happened in the past that he's now the one bearing the consequences. And because the king didn't listen when he was warned about marrying Adaralewa back then too, he's left to face the consequences of marrying a mysterious and an unknown person.... Someone who's from another world entirely.

I didn't want to watch the movie before, maybe because of Eniola Ajao; since it's her movie, I was skeptical about it. I felt maybe because everyone is now trying to do something that sets them apart and be outstanding, that's why she wanted to do this too; the movie was in every way different from her regular kind of acting. But believe me, she proved me wrong. It was a different kind of Yoruba palace story; it was even more interesting when the king went all the way to marry this lady who's from another world entirely.

Odunlade Adekola acted as the king, and I loved it; he perfectly captured that pressure and desperation of being a king who needs an heir at all costs. Let's talk of Sola Shobowale too; that woman is damn good. Seeing her made me know the movie would be a great one because I know her to always feature in very good movies. And Eniola Ajao too; that lady got me wowed. She acted as the mysterious woman that the king married, and she delivered her role so well. I also love how the movie intertwined all of these things together to show that the king's misery and Adaralewa's revenge are all connected while also touching on how we humans often do things we're not supposed to, like messing with nature and then having to face the consequences because everything is as it is for a reason.

The person who actually started all of this issue was a hunter back then who had a deal with the forest spirit but was given a warning to never hunt down or kill an antelope, but out of greed, he killed not just one antelope but two. Those two antelopes now happen to be the parents of Adaralewa, so you can tell how and where her strange behavior and the quest to take revenge are coming from.

But I didn't like that sudden flashback that shows who Adaralewa really was, I felt it wasn't necessary when they added it, it should have come earlier than that so the story can move on smoothly, also a few scenes felt a little bit somehow and it felt like the actors aren't in their best when those scene are were shot. Also, the ending isn't what I would have loved it to be; Adaralewa had gone through so much for the movie to just end like that.

Still, I enjoyed watching it to an extent, most especially because the story line was okay and the actors who played the different characters gave their best.
