Will Hunting is a 20-year-old janitor at a school in South Boston. Despite being a genius with a high IQ and being capable of solving graduate-level math at that young age, he was scarred by childhood abuse, which led him into self-sabotage, rough behavior, and trust issues. His potential was recognized by Professor Gerald when he realized Will was the one who solved a mathematical problem that was too difficult for even himself to solve, and he decided that Will's life was worth more.
