[Movie] Movie Review: Frankenstein

The movie Frankenstein is one of the most intriguing movies I've watched. The story features Dr. Victor, a brilliant but egotistical scientist who brings a creature to life in a monstrous experiment. The experiment started with his quest to defy death, but when his experiment came to life, he was immediately overwhelmed by the consequences of his ambition and decided to abandon the monster he created to die. Unfortunately, it didn't.

The creature only remembered his name as it strived to live in the harsh environment where men sought to kill it. It lived seeking death, but death betrayed it until all it wanted was to find its creator and ask him questions. The creature charted its painful journey in search of Victor, starting with its literacy and profound awareness as it sought acceptance among people that only answered it cruelly with hatred.

This movie teaches many things. First, anything created that defies nature's law comes with consequences. Sometimes our ambition to become known and to create certain inventions may only lead us to regret, just as Dr. Victor did. The losses he suffered as a result of his ego to build a creature that defies death caused him the lives of so many people he loved.

The creature, on the other hand, never left. It haunted him until the very moment when the monster met Victor to hear his side of the story, because all it ever knew from the start was just his name and no other details. While the movie stumbles under its own ambition, Frankenstein is a rich, tragic, and gorgeous piece of Gothic cinema. It stands as one of the most empathetic on-screen adaptations of Shelley's monster to date.

I rate it 4/5, and I assure you it would be an interesting watch with no regrets.
