"They will save your name as James ACS'22 ππ" is what she said in response after seeing my WhatsApp status that I posted of our chat. We shared a love for Anendlessocean's song, Juba, his latest release. and then I posted a snapshot of our chat, buttressing my previous post on recommending the music.
Her expression basically meant, "Why would you save my number like that? So weird, please change it π." This is the way I saved numbers in school in order to keep track of who is who and from where. I could have three people bearing the same name, and I wouldn't easily be able to identify who is who.
This way I save numbers. I personally feel bad about it too, because I should definitely do better. I have thought about it, but I couldn't find a way to rescue myself from this dilemma. If you have any useful tips that could help, please share them with me; I would really appreciate it.
I save your number with your name and according to your department and level; that way I can easily place how and where I know you from. I somehow just know a lot of people, and I am not even good with names.
When I see someone, the first thing I try to do is remember the name of the person. It is a big struggle trying to remember the person's name, so sometimes I try to take a pause, assuming I see the person first. Take a moment to remember. Most times I actually don't, and it hurts me. But there is nothing I can do.
Sometimes when I use my phone around the person, I tend to darken my screen, so the person doesn't see how I saved their name, like when I am on their WhatsApp page, for example. Because I know it isn't exactly nice, but what can I do?
Of course, sometimes I just explain the situation to them, and they understand. Many things on my head in that school. From course work to lecturer stress, to preparing for the tough exams they set for us, to even the terrible hostel living condition. My brain was always working on how best to survive that school.
Although, when I grow close to you personally and I don't have any trouble trying to place or remember you, I will change your name to a more personal one if there already is a number with your name on it.
Tell me, how do you save the contacts of people you just met? Do you do it like me? Or you have a more creative way of saving their contacts. Kindly share with me and others out there like me too. π

Name saving depends on bonds and relationships. Normally I can save my siblings name and friends name as I want and will easily find them. As for one time or contract friends, you just have to pair them with what they are known for. People should understand this, so many things running on our head to start comparing numbers, I hate it.
Exactly!
ππ I feel you

You can never go wrong saving names like thisβ¦ππ you must surely remember who is who
I surely do remember who is who ππ
Short yam, ShortCake is how you save yours? π nicee. I could definitely learn a thing or two from you. π
What of like saving the contacts of acquaintances?
You wonβt believe me when I say I donβt bother. If youβre like in my space most of the time and I have to save your contact I ask for your name and just like you save it with a location.

It always works for me, and I don't even mind at all when people do the same. If I don't know you, your surname is either the church, school, bank, or wherever we met. Nobody should vex. Lmao. I would only upgrade your name from Dayo 300L MTE when we become closer, even though you were two years my senior when I was in 100L, and I graduated two years ago.
ππ, me too o. I don't mind, because I understand, and I do it also.
It's the "your surname is either the church, school, bank, or wherever we met." for me, honestly.
Wow. So, the "Dayo 300L MTE" is still saved the same way? πππ If the guy see am now, e go dey vex say "shey hin still dey 300l ni?"
Make e dey vex dey go. We never talk anyway, you get??

Groundbreaking wickedness, but vhim.π
my guyy... no time π
My dude, you're not even that bad, trust me. I have saved peoples' contacts as the circumstances I met them in (but hey, what can't you expect from a guy called depressedfuckup, right? Lol)
"Old Classmate I don't remember but met at Traffic"
"Meow meow guy"
"Care Taker For Hostel In Front Of Us" (I honestly don't even remember who this person is right now)
"Emotional Intelligence Panelist and Facilitator"
These are just examples, and I promise you, it gets worse. I feel bad about them too, but this is usually the best way to save them so I can remember. What I've started doing recently though is that I just save the contact as their name, then proceed to attach an explanation of how I know them under a Note. My phone has that feature and I noticed it recently. You can check for something like that on your device as well.
Wow ππ. You're just like my mum π
She has the weirdest contact list π
I literally thought you were trying to describe something to me until I saw it in quote π
Please don't tell me that is someone's name on your contact list ππ
Wow. Just wow.
I feel you. But then you forgot the person for one of those you saved like thatπ
That's really great. I doubt I have that. But what I have is a section for organization for like where I met the person. That's helpful too.
I thought I was too formal, but you guys are brutal π
You even save numbers lol are you not a nice person? Me I don't have that mental strength to be saving numbers. All I do is just try to record the voice in my head. If I don't know you personally, I'm sorry but you'll have to be introducing yourself every time you call me because your voice will not register in my head.
ππ
Chaii, be like say, I'm really a nice person o π
You are o... Infact, uncle nice man π
