RE: Sam’s Hangout #94 - “JAPA DREAMS”

Hello Dera🥰

I know a friend who will always say this and what amazes me is that he did his masters in the US and can always travel, but choose to run a successful business in Nigeria.
I'm yet to understand him, because if I have that opportunity , I wouldn't want to stay back in Nigeria.
This is also good, it shows that you appreciate your root and love your country, regardless.

I also plan on giving my children more than Nigeria can ever offer and I pray God makes this possible for us.

Thanks for sharing, Dera

Yeah. I get. The thing is, running won’t always solve the problem. There’s not as much opportunities or “making money quick” techniques there as made believe. You can be in Nigeria and snag a remote job that pays in any currency. It makes life easier. Leaving Nigeria subjects you to their living conditions and policies: Taxes, Monthly bills, credit cards (which is not always a good thing) and time demand.

I and my partner have looked at this and it was better to just snag a remote job. Don’t earn in Naira. As for my kids, I don’t want them to ever forget their roots and they are the solid reason I decided to continue to stay here. But, in terms of education, I will make sure they have options and lots of opportunities.

Life outside of Nigeria is promising but only if you have the backbone to work through without connections, lots of uncertainty and many jobs. You have to work at-least three different jobs to be able to live comfortably (except corporate which you would need a handful of experience and recommendations to get).
