LÍSÀBÍ : A LEGEND IS BORN…

I honestly can’t describe how I am feeling right now, I haven’t felt this about a movie since the time i saw ”TITANIC”, titanic happens to be the first movie I’ve seen that made me feel this emotional, after then i have always tried my possible best to avoid movies with dramatic and emotional ending. I thought I could escape movies with sad and emotional ending until i found this particular movie, i am not sure if the first part of this movie has been seen by everyone, but then i believe some people would have come across it before since its a movie that can be found on Netflix and also because it is a blockbuster movie, the lead actor of this particular movie is well known both home and abroad, especially for his nollywood Yoruba movies…

Enough of the suspense, i am very eager to throw the title of this particular movie out there. I know the thought of many people out there, especially those who aren’t familiar with the Yoruba language is how they will be able to enjoy this movie, since it’s main subtitle is in Yoruba, and because of that I know you all might find it difficult to enjoy and understand the movie like we do. Fret not because i definitely have a solution for that. Thanks to the language settings on the Netflix app, you can change the language and subtitle of this particular movie to your preferred choice…

The option to change the default language settings is just at the tip of your finger. There’s English and i am also very sure there are other languages and subtitles there. Now you can enjoy and understand the movie like we do over here. I guess the language barrier and understanding is settled now, and now it’s time to reveal the title of the movie that has managed to make me emotional after a long time emotional break…

LÍSÀBÍ: THE UPRISING & A LEGEND IS BORN…

I remember how i felt when i first saw the first part of this particular movie last year, each and every scene of the movie gave me goosebumps, not only in the action scenes but in all the scenes, I could feel goosebumps all over my body from the historical song, dressing and setting of the movie. The movie happened to be the highlight of my 2024. I saw it towards the mber month and had to wait for today to see the concluding part of the movie…

Here is a review i wrote months ago about the first part of LÍSÀBÍ (The Uprising). To get the full gist of the movie and the story behind its creation, you would have to go through the first post i made about it three months ago, and to those who can’t read that post, my short review in the next paragraph will give you more insight about what LÍSÀBÍ is all about…

LÍSÀBÍ : A LEGEND IS BORN…

LÍSÀBÍ is a not just a movie but a true life story written, directed and produced to be a movie. This movie talks about the challenges and hurdles the Egbas faced under the rule and leadership of the tyrant king of Oyo, he is popularly known and regarded as the alaafin of Oyo back then…

LÍSÀBÍ who happens to be a native of Egba land grew up amidst the chaos and destruction that befell his tribe and tribesmen, his mother was killed by the warriors of Oyo, the people of Oyo came and took over everything they’ve labored for and made them a slave in their own land, this happened when he was still an infant. He grew up amidst this same chaos, destruction and fear. He watched his tribesmen get oppressed and also lost his best friend at the hands of the leader of the OYO tribute collector, and after this incident he decided show his real self, he took law into his hands after sitting and watching from the sidelines for too long. LÍSÀBÍ, his friends and the people of Egba decided to go to war to fight for their freedom and trample upon their oppressors, enough is enough of the slavery, killings, rapping and murder of the people of Egba, now it’s time to fight for their freedom…

I will say no more about this movie, to find out what happened at the end, you would have to watch it yourself…

In summary, watching the concluding part of this movie made me quite emotional, i was forced to think about the years we spent in slavery before we finally gained our independence. This movie took me back to the time we were held as slaves in our own country. Lives were lost in the war to gain freedom from the tyrant rule of the OYOs. Who died and survived at the end is what you will find out when you stream the movie yourself. Did the egbas finally gain their freedom?, did they finally get to kill the ruler of Oyo?, find the answers in the movie…

In conclusion, i rate this movie a 10/10 for over a thousand and one reasons. This second part is currently topping my list of best movies for the year 2025. I actually learnt a lot from this movie, and one of them is the history of my country and the states within. What a great movie, i now see what happened years before i was born. This is actually something i would never find out if this movie wasn’t produced in the first place. I am happy it was produced. A big shout out to the brains behind the movie. What a great movie…
