Happy new week dear friends of this great community, how was last week for you? Hope everything went well. Today I will be talking about the 2nd episode of Thank God the cashless policy ended. I talked about the 1st episode last week and Incase you are curious to read it, check the ending of this post and you will see the link to the second episode.
The cashless policy that occured st the beginning of this year was very bad as it claimed the lives of so many people who died of hunger as well as conflicts. Yes conflicts were going on in different places as the youths were always protesting, going towards nearby banks so that they can get cash at once. These people went to the extent of burning down banks.
Did you also remember when they were burning down few POS container because of their expensive charge. I remember a very funny video I watched that period, few people were in a line in a POS stand and the girl in charge was attending to them, telling them expensive charges in which they had to abide by in other to survive.
All of a sudden a man came we cutlass and showed the girl his ATM card. He told her he wants to withdraw NGN5,000 and how much is the charge. Out of fear the girl told him that the charge is NGN200 and then couldn't laugh that moment. People were saying what happened in the video is a new update and they will try it to some POS workers.
Back to the issue of burning banks, because of this action, army people were now sent to guide the banks in areas that were facing this problem. The youths came again this time the armies were fully present. They tried to calm the youths down at first and before we knew it, the angry and hungry youths began to exchange bullets with the armies and lot of people died.
Bankers began to be scared as they don't want to die. Whenever is time to withdraw money, lots of crowd were now always in the bank and people were also fighting in the bank. There was a news that came up that time, in a particular state whereby some guys carried their bed, gas and few other things so that they can cook, eat and relax while waiting for their turn to reach, they weren't ashamed at all. They country was definitely turning to something else that period.
Most times when my boss finish barbing some people, they will they aren't with cash but they will transfer. The reason am repeating this again is because I want to also remind you guys that fake alerts was also one of the things that were reigning that period. Customers will transfer money to my boss and he wouldn't be able to receive the alert even after 2days. So many people businesses were ruined.
The cashless policy really made our country to lose alot of citizens, people really suffered and things were very unbearable. The rate of corruption was also very high. I will continue the 3rd episode next time, there's something very interesting I will talk about there. I thank @hive-naija for his support and I also thank you guys for reading.
It was a sad and unpleasant experience for everyone.
We all felt it
