I'd rather be an educated snob. My boyfriend is less tolerant than I am. It repulses him and he could just block the person. I will just ignore. I will never understand why people still write like that in this age.

Maybe they're fascinated by and highly value other things that take priority in their mind. That would be my guess.
While we are studying and pondering the very best ways to communicate our ideas, others are pondering... a billion other things human beings are capable of pondering.
The other thing that has occurred to me as I observe people closely (both personally and professionally) is that not everyone finds it easy to translate what is in their head (or heart or wherever) into just the right words that will have just the right impact.
I sometimes think we can take it for granted that we're so good at this.
