Letters are Absolutely FREE to Use!

Little things that make me go “brother eugh!”.

Honestly, on a normal day, I can point out like 3-6 but the moment I have to identify them like now, they just disappear.

I do know that abbreviations in chatting/texting does put me off. It doesn’t allow me regard a person in their full glory. One thing that’s unfortunate and that I have seemed to notice, don’t know if it’s true for others, is that people who use abbreviations to communicate in this era always have a massive character problem. There’s always something just wrong with them and this is something you find out when you get to talk more with them.

Like I said, I’m not speaking for anyone but me. Most of the people I have had the patience of exchanging words online with, who so graciously decide to replace “How” with “aw” or “you” with “u” or “night” with “nite/9te” most times pass off as people with screws lose somewhere. Again, I’m not saying that’s how it is, just that is how it seems.

Please. If you are typing a document that has a potential to reap you millions, I don’t think you’d be using abbreviations. Now, some people would say I’m too uptight. That’s fine. Even as a young girl, I found that annoying. What exactly could you be pursuing or where are you rushing to that you can’t write a full word?

Not only does communicating with your spellings intact give off the impression that you know what you’re doing, it also sets you apart. My woman, @jhymi, couldn’t accept a lady who wanted to be her study partner during our skill development last year because the lady entered her DM with abbreviations. Remember that first impressions last long. Again, like I said above, people who use abbreviations send the wrong message. It doesn’t have to be instantaneous, it could be a minute block after block but to a person like me, it builds overtime and before you know, we are giving you the side eye because it’s better to just use pidgin than that thing you’re typing there.

On the other hand, when another lady came along and sent her a DM, Jhymi was so thrilled by the appropriate use of the English language and respect to letters that she came into my DM to gush, and I gushed with her. To prove my point, that partner turned out to be a wonderful person and enthusiastic student. They both finished their tasks with flying colours.

Now, I’m not saying the other lady wouldn’t have been serious or maybe even better, but people’s perception of you depends on how you present yourself. You can’t say you’re learned and be typing like a chicken from the forest. There’s a reason you have 26 letters in the alphabet and good news, they can’t be exhausted. So stop managing letters and type like a human being. Which one is “aw ws ya dy?” and I’m supposed to justify that with an answer? Come off it my friend!

I’m just that way honestly. I get thrown off a bit when I talk to people in person and they are amazing just to take the conversation online and gbam! They are giving me half-assed words. It just makes me withdraw, because if you can’t put small effort in finishing that “you”, you’re more than likely to abandon a project halfway.

Again, not saying that’s how it is with everyone but that’s just how you come across to people like me. Perception is everything and unless you treat yourself how you want to be perceived, you’ll be seen how the world sees fit.
