When I first joined Hive, the first community I searched for was the Hive Naija community. I was really excited to be a member. I guess I was looking for closure, a home away from home kind of vibe lol. I got into the community and saw familiar terms like WAZOBIA, and I was sure, yeah, it's really being run by Nigerians in Nigeria.

I went through the community feed and saw several initiatives, but the one that captured my attention was the weekend engagement, the reason being there was an announcement that it was discontinued temporarily. I couldn't say exactly how I felt reading through that announcement, but I did wonder what the initiative was all about. Seeing how a lot of people aired about not being happy with the turn of events, I assumed it would be a great initiative and wished I had been part of it before it ended. Not gonna lie, but I did wonder.

Moving on, it's been over a year on Hive since my encounter with the Weekend Engagement via the announcement, and one weekend, I saw that I was getting a lot of tags from different people. I would peep and see a lot of hot takes. I deduced it was on a particular topic, but I didn't really get a chance to engage, so I'll just go off and get back to my activities. It continued for several weeks until I was tagged to an engagement prompt on nursery rhymes.

Oh! how I was catapulted back to the good old days in basic education.The beauty of this prompt was that I attended both the public and private settings of basic education, so I got a lot of experiences from both worlds. After attending to who tagged me ( @justfavour and @treasuree, I went to the comment section to see others sharing their nursery rhymes as remembered with us. As I read the comments, having a good laugh, I saw one from @hopestylist, I think, and the nursery rhyme goes forth, "If you do good, kingdom ohhoooo kingdom ohhoooo kingdom is waiting for you."

I saw that it was different from the public school version that I know, so I included, "If you do bad, hell fire oohhhoooo, hell fire ooohhhooo, hell fire is waiting for you." Indeed it was a completion that brought a lot of laughter, as not many were familiar with that version of mine. I wouldn't really blame them, though, as per the Indomie generation. I even tagged @princessbusayo, our mommy G.O., for support that day lol. It was indeed a memorable one, and @nkemakonam89 even accused me of doctoring the original poem, but there is God, and we shall never be shamed.

To wrap this up, from that moment on, I have breezed in and breezed out on every other hangout when I see the tags. although I haven't seen it for quite a while now. Regardless, I knew Sam and the HiveNaija team did not come to play when Sam announced a physical meetup. I do hope it turns out as anticipated because really, we do need to have a bit of the Hive Fest vibes here in our very own Nigeria.
