School days at the university gave me a lot of friends that are amazing and those I hold dear to my heart to this day. Although not all of these friendships began on a smooth path, some began through a fight, misunderstanding, disappointment, and the like, but we were able to put our differences aside and create awesome memories through the years. It's been over ten years since I graduated from the university, and I'm still best of friends with many of these people, some of whom are my course mates, roommate, fellow friends, and the like. But today I want to talk about a friend I made at my place of worship during my undergraduate days and how good of a friend she was.

The first time we met was at a church service when she first came to inform the head usher of my church that she'd love to join the ushering department; it was during a special program in the evening, and I remember she happened to be a free and outspoken person who isn't shy in new places or around new people like I am. So we kinda hit it off immediately to become friends; after the service, we, alongside my friends, walked together till she got to her house avenue, and we departed. The following day was my first time seeing her in the school compound, and I got to know she was a fresher while I was in my third year.
The bond of the friendship grew more thanks to the fact that we were both in the ushering department in the church, and we kind of encouraged each other to be more active and fervent in the house of God. This was so because most other people in the ushering department were mostly adults who I could hardly relate with due to the age gap. Additionally, being a fresher, I've a lot of ways of helping her with her academics, be it in studying or providing her with some of my previous course handbooks. Also, she happens to be a generous individual who gives freely; for instance, on most occasions when we've had church services like vigil, she'll bring an extra meal for me when coming to church with hers.
Being a young man from a not-too-rich home, I'm always grateful for her generosity. I can even remember she once gave me her second phone when I misplaced my phone during my undergraduate days. Aside from the academic assistance I rendered to her, it's more or less like she's the one doing most of the giving. But thankfully I could compensate for that by giving her an opportunity to learn freely in her profession she's passionate about, which is catering, event decoration, and the like, and that's because I work as a staffing agent for most of the caterers and event decorators in our school vicinity, so I usually let her tag along to broaden her knowledge, and now she's into that profession herself.
Although many of my friends do think we're dating, we've never dated, nor have I had such feelings towards her; to me, she's more like a friend and a younger sister. And till this day we're still friends. I'm married to the love of my life, and so is she, and we both are still friends; in fact, we both still attend the same church and both still work as ushers in the church. I'm thankful for the gift of her because she's a friend indeed.
