Good day, people of Hive! Welcome to my blog. Today’s topic is from Hive Student Connect, which says:Side hustle. So let’s dive in.
Honestly, being a student is not as easy as many people think, especially with how things have become expensive these days. Some people have this mindset that students are always rich because our parents send us money, which is absolutely wrong. From feeding to transportation, buying handouts, paying emergency fees in school, and even buying data, everything requires money. Things are not funny nowadays. Sometimes we are asked to pay money in school, and if we call our parents, they are either short of money or think we are lying or exaggerating. The truth is, school life is about spending and spending.
Because of this, many students look for small ways to support themselves, something they can do alongside their studies without too much stress. You will see some students selling chin-chin, peppered ponmo or meat, perfume, food, clothes, sandals/shoes, scarves, etc., just to survive and support themselves.
For me, one thing that has really helped me is writing and posting on Hive. I got to know Hive through my sister, @princessbusayo. At first, I didn’t really take it seriously because I didn’t fully understand how it worked. But as time went on, I decided to give it a try, and I started learning how Hive works.

Honestly, the Hive platform is not stressful. We only need to write and post based on our experiences, things going on in our lives, or topics given to us by different communities on the platform. The more effort I put into writing and posting, and the more consistent I am, the more I earn. The reason I haven’t posted on Hive for the past few weeks was because I was sorting out personal things that really needed my full attention, but now I’m back.
Hive has really helped me become more independent, and I can support myself without disturbing my sisters too much. I can buy things with my own money and handle small personal expenses on my own.
In conclusion, having a side hustle as a student is very important. It doesn’t have to be something big or stressful. It can be anything simple that helps us make a little money to support ourselves. At the end of the day, we have to find what job or business works for us and use it to support ourselves, even if it’s in a small way.
This is my entry for the Hive Student Connect Week 41.
