Social media and Real love

The first step to a healthy relationship is censoring what you watch or listen to. Whether we admit it or not, what we listen to or watch can subconsciously affect us, and you’d be amazed when you discover how these little things gradually begin to influence your line of thought.

Love is a beautiful thing, and if you find that one person who you love deeply and they love you too, please hold on to them. Don’t let societal standards or social media standards dictate who you should love or be with.

Today, anyone with a smartphone and a ring light can sit in front of a camera and give unsolicited advice. They can spew rubbish all in the name of sounding sensible or creating content.

These people say and do things that make you subconsciously question your relationship. Just because your relationship doesn’t scream luxury, isn’t picture perfect, or Instagram worthy doesn’t make it bad or mean your relationship isn’t thriving.

Don’t let these people make you second-guess your relationship, you’re doing just fine with your partner. You’re growing at your own pace, and that’s admirable.

I’m tired of all the unrealistic standards social media has created for relationships, making people crave and wish for the picture-perfect relationships they see online. I hate how people forget social media is carefully curated for us, and only the best part of people’s lives is shown online.

A typical example is posting on social media. We take different pictures with different poses, right? But when it’s time to post, do we post all the pictures we took or do we pick the very best of them all? This is exactly what people do when they put their relationship on social media, only the best of the best is shown.

If you have a partner and know he or she is putting in the work, by all means, support them, love them, and don’t pressure them.

Most of our partners go above and beyond to make us happy, and what they get in return is constant complaints of why they are not behaving in a certain way.

The dating pool is messed up, so if you find a good partner out of it, please cherish them as the grass isn’t always greener on the other side.

Appreciate your partner, let them know they’re doing an amazing job, and play your part too. Don’t take advice from social media counselors and therapists, most of them are going through hell.

Like I stated earlier, love is a beautiful thing, if you find the ONE, love them dearly. Social media only projects love in its glamorous state and leaves out the fights, arguments, sacrifices, mistakes, compromises, and all the other characteristics that make real love what it is.
