Freedom? One aspect of human nature we often take for granted. While freedom seems far-fetched for a lot of people, another category of people abuse the privilege of being free.
On my way to the office today, just as I was about to cross the road, two Maria vans drove past me, and in them were prisoners. I watched as different sets of eyes tried to peek out while some lowered their heads. The ones who tried to look were the ones who tried to get a better view of their surroundings before they were taken back to their cells.

In that moment, my heart sank. A lot was going through my mind. I felt different emotions. From sadness to fear, to curiosity, and sympathy. I watched as the van drove off, my heart sinking with every minute.
Sitting cramped in those vans aren't only prisoners who were found guilty, but innocent people too. Innocent people who were wrongly accused, victims of circumstances, and also people who didn't have enough money to hire good lawyers to prove their innocence.

In those vans were people whose lives had been either paused or cut short. To these people, the one thing they ever wish for is to see the outside world again and to be truly free one day.
In that moment, I was torn between justice taking its course by fighting evil and human lives being cut short. I got all the lessons that I could get. It was truly a reflective moment for me.
How we walk freely and go about our daily activities without any form of restrictions or limitations is truly a privilege. How we see this as normal while it’s someone else's biggest prayer point.

If people in those vans could even get to see the world outside the prison for a brief moment, they’d be grateful.
I thought about this all through the ride to the office, and I couldn’t help but feel a certain way.
Again, I was reminded of how ungrateful I can be sometimes and how I sometimes abuse the privilege of living my life to the fullest.
Here I am sulking over the little acne on my face and crashing out because of a little inconvenience, someone out there is praying for the opportunity to experience freedom again and one with no restrictions.
Truly, life is unpredictable and we all have to be grateful at all times.

We cannot have everything we desire in life. The least we could do is to be grateful for the things we have, no matter how little. If not for anything, the freedom we enjoy is one thing to be grateful for.
This is a beautiful and thought-provoking piece.
