Trending after one’s death hurts more than anything. Imagine the world gets to know your name after you are dead, and it’s worse when you struggled all your life.
It breaks my heart whenever I see people trending after their death. Suddenly, everyone is empathic and wants to help plan the deceased's funeral and take care of the deceased's family. What happened to being empathic and kind to people when they are alive? What happened to showing love and celebrating people when they are alive? Why wait till they die? Why try to wash your guilt by all means? Why?!
Nobody deserves to struggle nonstop only for your destiny helpers to begin to locate you after your death.
We hold grudges, we keep our distance, and when people die we try to wash the guilt away.
Can we normalize being there for people and not showing up with black dresses, shades, and flowers at their funerals? Can we?
Can we normalize telling people how important they are to us when they are alive, not waiting till they die and crying uncontrollably.
This post was inspired by the painful death of an acquaintance of mine. This young lady died a few weeks ago, and a few hours after her death, her pictures were everywhere. People had so many nice things to say about her, and people who fought with her daily were not exempted either. Suddenly everyone loves and cares about her and would miss her, crazy world!
It was a sad day for people who genuinely cared about her. My anger increased when I saw certain people at the deceased’s funeral.
We are all living on borrowed time. It can be anybody’s turn to leave this world so we all need to treat people right. It doesn’t pay to be unkind and wicked to people. Being wicked is not a flex! So get that out of your head.
That fight or disagreement you had with that person might be your last encounter with that person. How would you feel when you realize they are gone and there’s no room for closure or for forgiveness? What will you do?
Learn to make people happy. You don’t have to do so much, your little show of concern can go a long way in making someone's day.
Make good memories with people. Memories that will make you smile whenever you remember them, no guilt, no pain, just pure love.
We all know that one day we shall leave the surface of this earth, but while we are still here we should all remember to live as good humans.
