The little things that means the world

There are times in people's lives when they realize that sometimes the littlest things can become the most important at that particular point and time and luckily for me I found myself in that very position today.

Since the very day I put on this all white clothing, I have completely forgotten what it feels like to rest. Here, we wake up early and sleep extremely late due to stress and numerous activities. The fact that all activities here are strictly identified even provides limited time to get things done meaning we are always in a hurry to complete one in order to meet up with others else your ears pay for your tardiness.
Today just wasn't my day here in camp, I woke up super early and to hurry up to meet the schedule for the day. Right after the morning reveille, I rushed down to the man o' war village for a brief training because we would be having a presentation by noon. I thought the whole training session would not last up to 20 minutes but boy was I in for a world of hurt. The whole lasted for over an hour and deep down I was already certain I was going to miss out on breakfast as the time had already long passed.

Our trainer dismissed the class after he was certain we were good enough and would not miss up on the big stage. Heartbroken, I walked back to the hostel slowly already certain about my date and the money I was going to spend to purchase a good breakfast. When I got to the hostel, I met the shock of my life as my food box was filled with my own portion of breakfast and my bunk neighbor smiling at me.
So what has happened was he (Caleb) saw me practicing at the training ground and concluded I was not going to finish up in time to come get lunch. He rushed down to the hostel, took my card and my food box, went up to the kitchen and collected mine just so I don't starve or spend unnecessarily. That very gesture nearly brought me to tears, it has been awhile someone did something this nice for me and the icing on the cake was that we have been friends for just barely over two weeks but I was still important enough for him to go out of his way to come through for me.
This might not look like much to a lot of people but to me it might the world. Not only did this good deed melt my heart, I am probably never going to forget this for the rest of my life ....
I know I have expressed my gratitude to him for this kind gesture. However I am still going to put it out here so this space also gets to feel how thrilled and happy I am inside.
Thank you Caleb for doing this, I am definitely telling our kids about this because we must stay buddies for life....
