The salvation of the Christian faith lies in the fact that Jesus died and rose again. An event that had been prophesied by prophets of the old on different occasions. The reason behind his death is the ultimate key to our freedom, once known to be people who are condemned and enslaved, ruled by law. His final words on the cross was "it's finished", the work of salvation was finished, the exchange was finished, our freedom was guaranteed, and we were no longer like men bound in chains and shackles, but freemen who were empowered to contend with those who contend with us.
Easter Day isn't a day to feast and be drunk, it isn't a day to continue in sin that the grace may abound even more, it isn't a day just marched as a ritual, but a day to reflect what a great sacrifice was paid to be free men. Easter Day is a day to reflect on where we came from and who we are now in Christ. For the Christians, it's a new start from the old life we live. If we are lost and weary, it's a reminder that someone has paid the price to find us and trade his strength for weakness so that we may be strong.
It's okay to feast, it's okay to dance and sing songs that gladden our hearts, but then it's more important to understand the reason for this day, to understand why we need to live a life worthy of his praise. The greatest love ever demonstrated was on the cross. May the joy of this season fill your home and bring you a new hope and a transformation of our heart.
