I was just standing at the left wing of my church, St Ambrose Catholic Church, Omoba Road, enjoying the view of the surroundings when I spotted them, landing all at once, onto the garden at the front of the parsonage, like soldiers on a mission. One second, the garden was quiet, the next it was full of egrets - about seven of them.

The second they touched down, they started moving - marching across the grass, heads down, picking at whatever they could find. But they weren’t just feeding — they were equally scanning. Looking sideways, back, like trained soldiers covering their flanks. Lol. Honestly, I was stunned.

Luckily, I had my phone in hand, so I began taking shot after shot. But they were moving so fast that it was tough keeping up with them. The shots weren't coming out clearly. And moving closer to that spot was out of the question, because the moment they sense someone is around or watching, they’re gone.
So, I had to zoom in and kept clicking, hoping one frame would catch them still enough. But it was all the same - blurred.

In the end, I had to make do with what I got. The photos aren't perfect, not even sharp, but they're real, candid photos.

Glad I captured them. Good thing, they weren't hanging around a dirty, messy place or following a herd of cattle this time around. 😂 Honestly, I think this is just the perfect environment for them, but nature knows best.
