Some of my favorites back in action this weekend!

As I mentioned in my post yesterday, I am going to be sitting at the softball fields bright and early on Saturday morning watching my niece tear it up with her Ohio Lasers Scarlet team. This will be our first trip to see her play since we were all together in Colorado, so I am really looking forward to it.

According to the forecast, the weather is going to be quite nice for us as well. It might be a little chilly in the morning, but quite honestly, I prefer that over melting in the heat. I'm actually a bit concerned that I might have not packed enough layers. I'm sure my sister in law will have a few blankets handy if I need one.

Meanwhile, NCAA football picks back up with week 8. That's crazy to say. I can't believe we are at week 8 already. That's halfway through the season and NCAA basketball exhibition games have already started. It won't be long and I am going to be splitting my time between football and basketball.

#2 Oregon is taking on Purdue and it should be a relatively easy game for the team that just outsmarted Ohio State. Purdue has been quite bad this year with a horrible record of 1-5. Oklahoma State faces off against #13 BYU. The Cougars are still 6-0 on the season. One of the few teams left actually. This home game will likely be an easy win for them.

Virginia faces #10 Clemson at Clemson, so I think we can all guess how that game is going to go. Nebraska is back in action after their bye week against #16 Indiana. The Hoosiers are also 6-0 on the season, but with a 5-1 record, I think the Cornhuskers could give them their first loss. I am definitely going to be putting money on Nebraska to come into Indiana and win this game.

#23 Army is also 6-0 and they are facing East Carolina. I think they will stay undefeated.

I guess I should take back what I said about not many teams being 6-0. #6 Miami is also undefeated so far this season. They are facing Louisville down in Kentucky and while I wouldn't put money on this game, I wouldn't be surprised to see the Cardinals get the win.

#12 Notre Dame has a game against Georgia Tech that could be interesting. I'd put it on my must watch list for the weekend. Right up there with that game would be #24 Michigan vs. #22 Illinois. I'm hoping for an Illini win on this one. I'm not a fan of Michigan and I think they are over hyped after their national title run last season.

#7 Alabama vs. #11 Tennessee should be a good game as well. Both teams only have one loss this season. Who will walk away with their second one on Saturday? #25 Navy is also undefeated this season, so that late season Army/Navy game could hold a lot more significance this year.

#8 LSU at Arkansas is another game I wouldn't necessarily watch, but I might put some money down on it for Arkansas to win. I will likely be very wrong, but you never know.

Probably the other biggest game of the weekend that is a must watch would be the #5 Georgia versus #1 Texas game. I think we can all assume how it is going to go, but I think it will be a good game either way. My prediction... Texas remains undefeated.

Michigan State is back in action with a home night game against Iowa. They really need this win. What should have been an easy second half of their season isn't looking that way now with how well Indiana and Illinois have been doing. The Spartans need a big push here if they are going to make it to a respectable bowl game this holiday season.

Meanwhile, the Detroit Lions have a huge game against Minnesota this weekend. It's in Minnesota, so I am a bit worried, but hopefully the energy from the Cowboys game carries over and they hand the Vikings their first loss of the season.
