Greetings friends of #fascinatinginsects, I am back again after a long time to show you a nice and curious insect that I could find in the plants of my garden, its colors caught my attention and I decided to look for my cell phone, since it was the first time I observed this small insect.
It is a Hoplomutilla wasp (Hymenoptera, Mutillidae), this wasp could be very curious because of its appearance, but its sting is very painful, I could sting repeatedly without losing its sting. When it feels attacked or annoyed, it tends to produce a screeching sound in the abdomen area to scare away its predators. It looks like an ant, but it is a wasp, the females are characterized by not having wings, it has aposematic colors to keep predators away. This wasp is called cow killer; however, the reason for this is that it is mistaken for a type of collector ant that can kill mammals of 1 kilo in several stings. This type of wasp is solitary and is easily found in the Barinas and Portuguesa regions of Venezuela.
Their reproduction is complex, the male flies to locate the female, after mating the female deposits her eggs near the larvae of another insect, then these parasites feed on the host externally until they are fully developed.

They feed on the nectar of flowers, some of these species usually come out at night; however, the females do their work during the day.

These wasps are almost impossible to find, since they walk alone during the day, I am glad to be able to photograph this nice insect and learn a little more about our nature and its environment. I hope you liked it.
