Want to start a Business ?
I've decided to give my youtube channel another try... for the probably 5th time, I change the orientation of my content. While it was always interesting to surf on a hype movement like crypto or ai, I wasn't really at the top of my game. The reason was that I was competing with people on the basis of who got the information out first. Also, to be honest, I have been disabused by AI. The more I worked with AI, the more I had the feeling that I was limiting my intellectual capacities and when you are 50 like me, it's not really what should be done.
A channel where I share my experience of 15 years, running a brick and mortar business
While crypto and ai content can be found online for the ones that search or even easier, with AI, the experience I have accumulated during 15 years, while running a business, is not something that is totally objective. There are more personal stories to be told and experiences to be shared that can't be looked up easily online.
What content I want to share
I think that in our time, there are a lot of people who think about starting a business. The entry into a business, especially online, seems much lower than in the past. You can create a sales page with AI, integrating a payment processor in a very short time. I would say, it has never been easier to start a business. This means also that a lot of people try things out, that maybe don't have entrepreneurship in their DNA. Being an entrepreneur looks cool from the outside. No boss that tells you what to do, no schedules to follow. Work from where you want... But there are also a lot of negative sides that are less visible. How do you deal with the stress that comes when you don't sell enough? How do you motivate yourself day in, day out? How do you treat unfriendly customers? These are all aspects that I want to talk about.
A time for small businesses?
In a world where AI can substitute a lot of things, improve workflows and build the online aspect of a business, I can imagine that more and more people will be tempted to be their own bosses. This doesn't mean that we can skip the other sides of a business:
- marketing
- administration
- money flows
- budgeting
- personnel
- regulations
- ...
A business is more than just a website and sales processor and all these other things need to be understood as well if somebody wants to be successful running a business.

I saw his post, looks interesting but I haven't really gotten in the detail of it. I need to have a more in depth look at it.
Quite a few of my friends who are small business owners have lauded AI having helped them. At the end of the day, it is just another new tool.
It's definitely a tool that can be useful but I think I relied too much on it for creative and thought processes. As long as it's a tool that has a specific job, it's great but when using it too much, too substitute our own thinking, then I think it becomes something that inhibits our capacities.
