We Are Alive! Sharing a Birthday!
Last evening we celebrated the birthday of my oldest child. Just so happens to also be my birthday as well.
We invited family over for presents and cake and ice-cream. We had a wonderful time chatting and discussing various goings on.
Family birthdays are not focused on the people celebrating the birthday, as much as it's an opportunity and excuse to have a family get-together. We do give gifts, and plenty of "happy birthdays", but no blowing out candles, or singing the happy birthday song (although that does happen sometimes) or focus on opening presents.
Rather, we share conversation, enjoy good cake and catch up on what everyone has been up to the last few weeks. This birthday, I shared some special jelly beans - doughnut flavors!
It was a great birthday party! Bless the Most High!

Our children read the Tuttle Twin books, specifically to learn libertarian principles, which most people learn later in life. These books are useful for our family, and yours, to teach children concepts that seem complicated, but are made simple in these books.

I really like the idea of using birthdays as a reason to bring everyone together and just enjoy each other's company.
