Ein Chimay Bleue nach dem Weihnachtsmarkt (DE/ENG)
Es ist kaum zu glauben, aber am nächsten Sonntag ist bereits der 1. Advent und das Jahr neigt sich bereits langsam dem Ende entgegen. Was nicht dem Ende entgegen geht und auch in der 230. Ausgabe noch immer viele Anhänger findet die fleißig mitmachen, ist der #Beersaturday vom @detlev.
Ich habe mir mal jetzt vorgenommen, in jeder Woche den Sieger meines Risingstar-Gewinnspieles zum Mitmachen einzuladen. In dieser Woche wäre das @marvinix. Mach mit beim #Beersaturday, zeige uns dein Lieblingsbier und schreibe ein paar Zeilen dazu.

Am Wochenende hat bei uns in der Nähe (in Xanten) der erste Weihnachtsmarkt seine Pforten geöffnet und da meine Frau die Sorge hat, das Dank der steigenden Inzidenzen demnächst alle kommenden Weihnachtsmärkte abgesagt werden, war es ihr ein Bedürfnis, zumindest einen Markt zu besuchen.

Auf dem Weihnachtsmarkt galt bereits die 2G-Regel (geimpft/genesen). Das Tragen einer Maske wurde empfohlen, war jedoch keine Pflicht.

Ein besonderes Bier gab es auf dem Markt nicht, von daher habe ich mich für einen Glühwein entschieden. Der erste geschmackliche Eindruck war gut. Er schmeckte nicht nach einem Wein aus dem Kanister. Nach Leeren des halben Bechers war ich jedoch nicht mehr so angetan. Der Geschmack nach Nelke war mit persönlich etwas zu viel.

Eine Besonderheit, die es (glaube ich) nur auf dem Xantener Weihnachtsmarkt gibt, ist der sogenannte Niederrhein-Döner. Hierbei handelt es sich um ein Fladenbrot, gefüllt mit Spanferkel, Krautsalat und gerösteten Zwiebeln.

Da es auf dem Markt kein Bier gegeben hat, habe ich mir zuhause noch eines aus dem Kühlschrank gegriffen. Heute habe ich mir ein belgisches Trappistenbier ausgesucht und zwar das Chimay bleue.

Das Chimay bleue ist ein dunkles Bier mit 9 % Alkohol.
Ich habe es in der 0,33 l Flasche mit blauem Kronkorken und blauem Aufkleber.
Das Chimay bleue reift noch während einiger Jahre in der Flasche.
Das Chimay ist ein Trappistenbier und wird in der Abtei Notre-Dame de Scourmont in Chimay (Belgien) gebraut.

In der Abtei werden jedes Jahr ca. 130.000 Hektoliter Chimay gebraut. Um das Klosterleben nicht zu stören, erfolgt die Flaschenabfüllung außerhalb des Klosters.

Auch beim Geschmack erkennt man die Röstaromen. Einen Vergleich mit Portwein, den ich an anderer Stelle gelesen habe, trifft bei diesem Bier sehr gut zu.
Der hohe Alkoholgehalt ist nicht von Nachteil. Er verleitet dazu, dass man das Bier einfach länger geniessen kann, was ich auch gemacht habe.

Ein überzeugendes Trappistenbier das man sehr gut trinken kann. Hiervon werde ich mir wirklich noch ein paar Flaschen besorgen und diesen dann länger liegen lassen. An anderer Stelle habe ich gelesen, das das Bier nach 3 bis 5 Jahren seinen vollen Geschmack entfaltet.
Beer Conclusion:
A convincing Trappist beer that is very good to drink. Of this I will really get me a few more bottles and then leave this longer. Elsewhere I have read that the beer develops its full flavor after 3 to 5 years.
