Newbies Task 6 - Blockchain Games

Games are a big part of the blockchain and thankfully, @ksam was there to take us through crypto games and hive games this last weekend. It's the 6th week of the newbies initiative and just like that, we're left with 2 weeks to end. It has been a glorious ride so far.

Blockchain games unlike the regular games are played on blockchains. For the most part, they are cryptocurrency video games and give you the chance to earn cryptocurrencies or tokens while you play. It is fun, educative, challenging and very rewarding. Some of these blockchain games are more challenging than the regular games we play because they require strategies.

Blockchain games offer you the chance to earn NFTs aside the in - game currencies you earn which can be traded.

Blockchain games are free to play and play to earn.

Play to earn (P2E) means that while you are playing and enjoying the game, be it adventure, fighting o shooting, or whatever, you are earning cryptocurrencies and or NFTs. Why waste your time playing other games when you're sure not to win anything but rather invest your time, energy and money when you could be using those same resources to play a blockchain game and earn. The in - game currencies you earn can be traded for the blockchain's native currency which in turn can be traded for other cryptocurrencies.

Free to play (F2P) means that the blockchain games allow users to have significant or huge access to the game for free. Yeah, you do not need to pay to start up. Once you have an account on the blockchain say hive, you have the freedom to play whichever game you want.

There are a lot of games on hive blockchain. As required I will mention 4.

• The splinterlands game is a strategic game that involves you strategizing your cards and arranging them for battle. The in - game currency of splinterlands are sps and dec.

• The WOO game, Wrestling Organization Online is a wrestling game on hive that involves wrestling like the name suggests. It is a fighting game. The in - game currency is woo token and one can also earn NFTs.

• Muterra is a fighting game that involves 3 things. The player has to catch mutated animals, train those mutated animals and have them fight another mutated animals. The in - game currency is MUT.

• Gods unchained is a fighting or attacking game which is a trading card game. It involves attacking another player's card or god as they prefer and destroying that god. That is, after selecting them and strategizing the cards for battle. The in - game currencies are GODS, flux and star.

NFTs are important in blockchain games. This is because they are extra ways to earn in the game. NFTs are not crypto coins and so they are extra earning ways. NFTs are non - fungible tokens which mean that they are unique to each user. You can however, trade your NFTs on the marketplace. NFTs have some hype around them and can fetch you quite a lot of money.

These NFTS include lands, guns, characters, or art.

The Quest for Stoken game is a 2D game developed by Gnar DAO and skatehive. It runs on the hive blockchain. The game is still very much in development but you can still play. It has now been integrated with hive and so you can login with keychain to play. For now, you earn hbd when you play and win. The rewards from the posts made by @stoken.quest is displayed on the homepage of the game and these rewards are shared to the players of the game.

Accessing the game is easy because from the homepage, you are instructed to start by pressing the space bar. Once the game launches, the instructions are displayed. F is for attacking, space bar is for jumping, Z is for shielding and X is for action like lighting the fire and opening wallets.

In quest for stoken game, your player who appears on a skateboard with a sword and us flag in hand. The player goes on a quest to kill monster. It's a pretty interesting game as you progress. The music attached to the game makes the game even more interesting because quite frankly, I like music and good beats get me.
