A Job That Inspires - Finding What Defines Me
It’s funny and inspirational how we dream of so many things when we are kids. We still dream but sometimes our dreams are more realistic if we compare to when we knew nothing. While growing up I was obsessed with being a pilot. I remember that was in my kindergarten days when I wanted to be a pilot. Then, I wanted to be a doctor. I even at a point wanted to be an actor. Hehe, that’s a funny one because I cannot even act to save my life.
Before I completed high school, I wanted to be a pharmacist which looked achievable for maybe due to lack of effort from my side, I couldn’t get the necessary grades to study pharmacy. I am studying biochemistry right now which can still give me a pathway to become a doctor.
If I am being totally honest, I would love to be a forensic expert or forensic scientist. For real, I just love how the movies make forensic science seem like a lot of fun. I love to uncover mysteries and so I binge watch a lot of crime shows. I know how they solve some of their cases is probably unrealistic but it still gets me intrigued.

I studied forensic toxicology as an elective in my third year and that made me have more interest. This semester I am studying forensic science as one of my courses and although it is quite broad, it’s been fun so far. Getting to read and learn about the OJ Simpon’s case. We talked about trace evidences and how some evidences were mismanaged and how they could have been done correctly. It’s a really interesting case for those that want to read.
There’s still a path for me to get that dream but I am not sure if I will be pursuing that. I don’t think a lot of people pursue a career in forensics in my country Ghana. Even if they do, there wouldn’t be a lot of technology and opportunities available. It would be nice but our countries do not make these kind of career or courses interesting.
I just admire how the forensic scientist put pieces together to solve crimes and uncertainties.
I wouldn’t want to do a job or pursue a career I will not necessarily enjoy and so I very much hope I am able to pursue a career I have some passion for. Medicine, pharmacy and forensic sciences are some of the areas I have interest in pursuing a career.
So basically, my dream career of being a pilot cannot be pursued right now for maybe a reason or two. I have first of all lost interest in that and I am not sure the courses I am pursuing can help me in that direction.
There are a lot of people who do not see their dreams materialize but they end up doing important things. Some end up doing things they do not like but others end up enjoying whatever they end up doing. I have read a few entries already where some people are not pursuing their dream careers but are enjoying it.
In conclusion, I would be glad to pursue one of my dream careers but even if I do not pursue any of these, I would still love to do something that I end up enjoying.
That's the main thing. Doing what you love.
You might not have gotten the chance to be a pilot and trust me, you aren't the only one that ended up changing to another career.
You already have interest in some other careers and with adequate resources, you will be able to pursue, at least two out of it and and give out your best.
Thank you Nkem, I hope I can be able to achieve these.
Still great that you are taking a subject related to that other dream job of yours and since you are still studying, there is a great chance that you can soon work on that dream job. Good luck with your studies.
Hopefully, I am able to do it friend
You have my full support on this..
You're right , do something you always have joy for.
Thanks bro. We should try to do that
Mostly we end up doing what we are expected or commanded to do but not what we really want to do
You’re right bro. It’s usually the case. But when we do have control over our choices, we should do what makes us happy
You’re really funny because why would you offer that forensic course when you knew we would study it in final year?😂
Forensics is for really smart people I hope you know?😅
I did it cos I like the course. 😂
Yeah, it's good to chase one's dream or do what one loves to do.

Yeah you’re right
funny fact is that we need more forensic people in the country because there are a lot of things we cant understand and we need answers. especially autopsy of deaths.
#dreemport
That’s true but basically our countries aren’t equipped for it
Yeah.. So painful..that's why most people go with crime
Wow, your dream career are in different directions and majestic. It will take a lot of effort to achieve any of the above jobs you have listed but with determination nothing is impossible.

Hehe you’re right friend, it will take a lot and I hope I can achieve one or more
I also binge a lot of crime TV, and I bet forensic science is a fascinating subject. So cool that you get to explore it. Where do you study?
Maybe we can get the time to talk about some of them sometime. I school in CK Tedam university for tech and applied sciences. A school in Ghana.
Technically, you are still in the medical line and the two courses aren't far from each other. Different factors show up and prevent us from chasing our dreams but it's a good thing when we don't let those factors take away hope and life from us.
Forensic is awesome, I admire them a lot in movies. It's so disappointing that we in the underdeveloped side of the world and we can't study some courses that we love.

Your concluding part says it all, try your best, and whatever you end up with, make sure it's something you love to do.

Thank you Glory. I’ll do well to keep this in mind
I think it's awesome when you're doing something you love. It legit beats any other occupation. It's not exactly cool if you earn a lot but you dread waking up each day to that job.
I think your passion is very interesting. And as someone that's always been interested in mystery and discovery, I think it's awesome.🤗

You’re right. It can be frustrating when you earn quite a lot doing something you do not enjoy. Us lovers of mysteries seem to be many hehe
Are you a fan of THE FLASH?
#dreemport
No not really. Aside their occasional crossover in arrow.
Oh... I was wondering which popular movie forensic scientist featured in
