Evening

Yoga Labs the creator of popular ape themed NFTs suffered discord server hack, which led to several of the community members falling victim to phishing attack losing NFts worth more than 200 Eth($360,000).

As per OKHotshot, a blockchain detective, two of the discord servers related to Yoga Labs(BAYC and OtherSide NFT groups) were hacked. The hacker gained access to the discord account of Boris Vagner, Yuga Labs community and social manager. After gaining unrestricted access to the account, hacker posted phishing links into official BAYC, Mutant Ape Yacht Club (MAYC) and Otherside groups.

The phishing link promised a limited-quantity giveaways to the members of community holding NFTs in their wallets, so a lot of group members fell victim of the exploit. This marks the second time in two weeks that BAYC fell victim to attack.

BAYC acknowledged the exploit on twitter, claiming that they caught and handled it quickly. BAYC co-founder Gordon Goner lashed out at Discord for not doing enough to cater the needs of web3 community.

On the other hand, OKHotshot and others are of view that discord is not to be blamed for the incident, instead users needs to be more cautious when using the application.

Lets just leave who is to blame; Yoga Labs or Discord, but one thing is clear that NFT holders needs to extremely careful before clicking on external links even if they are posted by the official handles. Always investigate and double check the third party links.

Thanks for this info, I wonder though how effectively, a user can investigate and double check the third party links, before activating.
