We are going to review this anime which is called Grimgar of Fantasy and Ash. It is a dark fantasy, Isekai, drama anime that may piqued your interest. This anime has only 1 season but I would like to see more of this because of its story that the characters showed emotions, care, and bond with each other.

It is similar to other Isekai anime but this time, they don't know how did they get there. As soon as they wake, they are in a small tower and they can see something like a medieval period where there is no technology exist but only power. Power to defeat monsters in this world. A quest for survival for themselves and a quest to learn on where they come from.

Story

The story is about a group of people who are in a party that are struggling to make a living. At the start of the anime as they woke up, there is someone approach them and give them a small amount of money to start their journey as an adventurer. They can choose their party members as they like but the last remaining party of the members are the ones that are the weakest and novice on hunting monsters.

These adventurers can choose on what type of group or guild that they want just like and learn their skills. These are Warrior, Mage, Paladin, Priest, Hunter, Dread Knight, and Thief. Joining one of these guild needs money for the entrance fee.

These novice adventurers are Haruhiro (Thief), Ranta (Dread Knight), Manato (Priest), Moguzo (Warrior), Yume (Hunter), and Shihoru (Mage). Their leader for their party is Manato who commands from the rear and takes care of its party members. They struggle together as they find their prey which is a goblin. Even if they work together, they cannot kill it but they sometimes scratch it maybe because of their teamwork is not that great. They are scared to kill a goblin because they are a novice party but they need to hunt monsters so that they can survive from it. If they cannot hunt a monster then they cannot get money to buy food for them.

Day after day, they hunt monsters to make a living and they also gained experience as they hunt together but one day, as they hunt into the forest, they found the territory of goblins in the ruined city. There are a bunch of goblins and there are also different types of goblins. They strike together to kill all of the goblins but they cannot because these goblins are too powerful for them, after they retreated they learned that Manato got hit by an arrow from a goblin and it is severe that they can't heal it, he eventually died. They grieved as their leader and their friend died in the battle protecting them as if his family. Their bond is also loosen as their leader died in the battle but they need to go forward and they appointed HARUHIRO as their leader.

They make themselves stronger and hunt every day, they even recruited a new priest named MARY to fill in the missing member of their party. They need to avenge as they got stronger, they avenged manato and wiped out all of the goblins in the ruined city including the leader of the goblin. Before they attacked, they've got a strategy from HARUHIO (leader) so that no one will be dead from the battle. They were happy because they have avenged their friend MANATO from these goblins.

They bought new materials for themselves and make a feast for their celebration that they killed all of the goblins in the ruined city. They also continue hunting but this time they wanted to help MARY by avenging MARY's party before and they went into a place called kobold-infested mines and they also struggle because the monster is not a goblin but a moving monsters that looks like a wolf.

Conclusion

I recommend you watching this anime because of its animation and also its story. The character developments are also slow that they can't get stronger overnight. They need to help each other so that they can survive and I like how they portrays the character of HARUHIRO because he is good at strategy and quick witted.

There is also a light novel for this and I think the light novel is longer than this season. I hope that there will be another season for this one because I want to know the developments for these character as they embark into the world full of monsters.

I'm looking forward for this type of anime and also hoping they they will make another season for this because I've watched this anime 3 times already.
