How to upload a high-resolution 4K photo on Hive. Spoiler: It's easier than thought :)

Ihr habt ein cooles Foto geschossen, dass ihr in Originalauflösung bzw. mindestens 4K auf Hive teilen möchtet? Kein Problem. So geht's.

Ist einfacher als gedacht.

Der Trick ist, dass ihr das Foto über hive.blog oder @ecency hochlädt, dann kann das Foto nämlich in Originalauflösung, ohne zusätzliche Kompression heruntergeladen werden, was ich gerade herausgefunden habe.

Bei den anderen Frontends wie @peakd wird das Foto etwas verkleinert.

Die beliebtesten Front-Ends habe ich weiter unten für euch getestet.

Bei peakd gibt es übrigens einen Trick, wenn man das Bild direkt über die files.peakd.com URL herunterlädt, bekommt man das Foto ebenfalls in einer etwas höheren Auflösung.

Aber nur über hive.blog veröffentlichte Fotos, bekommt ihr in voller Auflösung.

Falls ihr noch größere Fotos hochladen möchtet, zum Beispiel RAW-Fotos, empfiehlt es sich einen externen File-Hoster zu verwenden. Zum Beispiel könnt ihr die Fotos in einem Ordner auf OneDrive oder Google Drive hochladen und den Link zu diesem Ordner dann auf Hive öffentlich teilen.

Update

Full-res pictures are not shown on ecency.com even if you zoom in on them, to view the full-res version you have to use peakd or hive.blog, although ecency uploads the pictures in full-res.

Recommendation

Use hive.blog to upload your high-res photos and include a direct download link to the photo as well, because some front-ends might reduce the size of the displayed photos to save bandwidth.

Have you taken an awesome photo that you are eager to share on Hive in it's original glory / resolution or at least in 4K? No problem. Here's how to do that.

It's easier than you think.

The trick is that you upload the photo via hive.blog or @ecency, then the photo can be downloaded in it's original resolution, without additional compression, which I just found out.

With other front-ends such as @peakd, the photo is slightly reduced in size.

I have tested the most popular front-ends for you below.

By the way, peakd has a trick: if you download the image directly via the files.peakd.com URL, you also get the photo in a slightly higher resolution.

But only photos published via hive.blog will be available in full resolution.

If you want to upload even larger photos, for example RAW photos, I recommend using an external file hoster. For example, you can upload the photos to a folder on OneDrive or Google Drive and then share the link to this folder publicly on Hive.
