Hiking in Vienna 🦋 (LEO Butterfly)
Butterfly with Leopard print (Argynnis paphia or Fabriciana adippe)
English
Spotted a cool butterfly with a leopard pattern. According to AI and Wikipedia it could be a silver-washed fritillary (Argynnis paphia) or a high brown fritillary (Fabriciana adippe, Argynnis adippe). Unfortunately, there are many species that look almost identical. They differ very slightly in the pattern on the back of the wings. Argynnis paphia has rather a more washed out pattern on the back compared to the Fabriciana adippe.
