Assassin's Creed Nexus VR announced for Meta Quest 2 / 3. This is what VR games should look like. Unfortunately we are not there yet.

So sollten VR Games aussehen.

This is what VR games should look like.

Ubisoft has posted a teaser and announced an Assassin's Creed for VR for the Meta Quest 2 / 3 (not for Vision Pro, which does not yet exist and is more of an AR headset).

The trailer looks awesome, this is how VR games should look like. Unfortunately, this is not actual gameplay and unrealistic for standalone headsets.

Even the $3500 expensive headset from Apple will rather have the graphics of mobile games and not PC games.

While PC games are slowly becoming photorealistic with Unreal Engine 5 and a GeForce 40x, VR games are more likely to have the graphics of video games 20 years ago.

VR not only lacks AAA games, the big studios have so far tended to avoid VR because it's too small a niche, but it also lacks computing power.

In order to make a VR game in Assassin's Creed quality, you would need the computing power of a powerful gaming PC, preferably with a current GeForce RTX 40x GPU. Such a computer consumes several hundred watts, has to be specially cooled and is heavy. That doesn't work out with a standalone headset.

The solution would be PCVR, rendering the graphics on the PC and then transferring them to the headset.

What do you think about the Assassin's Creed VR announcement? Do you think there will be a PCVR mode or will the graphics be disappointing and not match the usual Assassin's Creed quality?

It looks awesome! But I agree, the VR just isn't there yet. Hopefully in the next couple years!

I think that to see these graphics in virtual reality they need other developments.

It looks perfect as graphics but like you I don't think that the game will release with that graphics. They already tell that in the video it's not a gameplay it's just rendered animations. So we should not expect something like that but it would be great if we can play it!

Even here in Pakistan this technology is not that popular and we don't get to see much of it in the next few years.

damm, assasins creed is my favorite game ever, i would deff love to play it on VR even with low graphics , i dont really care, the sumersive experience is worth it and Meta quest are not that expensive, so this something worth to give a try for me.

It looks interesting but I can't imagine myself using a VR headset like that. You will look so goofy and I wonder if that view is better. In the normal games, you can see more about what is happening but it will mix things up.
