Peer Pressure - Challenge, Influence and Opportunity!

Hello Everyone, Namaste,πŸ™πŸ˜Š

How are you doing? We humans have a common tendency to influence, immiate, admire and impress people around us. When it comes to friends and family, things always get more personal and competitive. This unending and unwanted comparison with our peers, siblings and neighbours starts from childhood itself. In India society, comparisons is a very common thing, this is something prevalent and a social pressure as well. I have grown up seeing my parents, relatives always comparing me with other peers and siblings of same age. There has always been a question about who's better? Or Who's the nasty one to blame for? I guess πŸ€”. This is something i never understood. Family functions has always been a big stage for me where I was compared with my siblings or neighbours. These talks usually starts with academics first and then it almost goes on every subject.

One time my uncle started comparing my morning schedule with one of my cousins. One of my cousins was an early bird but not by habit i would say, he used to get up early and then go for running as he was aiming for physicals of Armed forces. So he was actively involved in early morning activities and training schedules. However, although i usually wake up around 6 AM. I didn't had any such career requirements, I used to go to gym in evening, that was my field of interest. Then one other time I was compared for with my cousin who was pursuing medical and I was doing my graduation into arts. My relatives declared me a not so bright student just because I choose art. These are just few of the common comparison we deal on everyday basis. The society generally compare us in order to make us beleive less of ourselves and sometimes also making us feel less confident.

Here we all need to be strong and develop a strong attitude. I always say be bullet proof to people's opinions and remarks. People will always say this or that. We can't please everyone, it's a reality. The sonner we accept this fact, the better. We each have our unique abilities, qualities and limitations as well. A medicine for someone could be a poison for the other. Also if a person did something great or made an achievement doesn't mean we all need to do the same to get the acceptance of society. We all are born different and we have different goals, choices and interests.

Peer pressure is a normal and essential thing as well. If taken in a positive way and as a goodwill challenge, peer pressure can help us be better and more focused. This will improve our quality of work, make us more confident. I always admire my peers who do good and who are hardworking. There is no shame and nothing wrong in accepting of they are better than us. Try to learn from such people, be in the company and get it know them better. This learning form peers will take away all the negative comparisons, ill thoughts and extra stress we get unintentionally.

The best way to beat the peer pressure is to channel into right direction. There is no need to blame the peers, bosses or even yourself. Analyse how can you improve and make your knowledge better. How can your peer influence you in a positive way. Trust me it's not necessary and desired to bring the other down, for one to go up. You both and can grow together. If not, try to learn, work on yourself, be more happy and find other activities and hobbies to get the extra heat out. In the end, just try to live a happy life with no ill will and comparison with others, especially with peers. We can have different opinions, some arguments as well. But see in this way. Most of us do a 8 hrs job approx atleast 5-6 days a week. That's around 48hrs a week and 192 hrs a month. This is the time most salary class people spent at work and among the peers, so in a way we can say our peers are also a part of our life and as a family as well. There is no need to carry the extra pressure and stress of others performers and achievements. We can take part in their celebrations, achievements and try to learn good things and absorb good qualities as well.

Human beings are greatly influenced by examples, so it is necessary to choose very carefully who to "imitate".

Greetings friend, you are right many people see this especially in the family, we begin to compare ourselves with others, if everyone is totally different from others, none is equal, often generates rivalry, hatred, competition between the same family. You have to make them understand that everyone has different talents, gifts, attitudes and each one develops them as they see fit. Good reflection
