Weekend Engagement - Weekend Work

This week's prompt is on whether I work on weekends and if I like it.
As a matter of fact, most of my work lands on weekends. Let's dive more into it.

What do I do?
I am a wedding/events photographer and photobooth operator. To me, weekends is SHOW TIME! At least 80% of my work lands on weekends as most weddings or events actually happened in the weekends. But this doesn't mean I do not work on weekdays. While it is SHOW TIME in the weekends, work that I do in the week day involves a lot of preparation and post production works.

Do I Like what I do?
My work nature is essentially an inverted work schedule as compared to many whom runs a Monday to Friday schedule. But why did I choose the work I do even with the need for me to work on weekends?

Weddings see the union of two in love to one, a joy for the couple, their families and their friends. Events come in the form of roadshows, celebrations and dinner & dance, all of which people attend and find joy in them. Whenever I hold onto my camera, the most frequent phrase that I would say will be, "Big Smiles!" And so far in my 10 years in this profession, no one ever resist smiling. With this, the joy and satisfaction that comes really fuels my passion to deliver the best photos I can for the clients even if it falls on a weekend.

Something else that makes me like what I do, is to see the smiles when my clients and guest see their photos. This brings me loads of satisfaction because it ascertain that I've managed to capture their photos well and these images will help them remember those special moments and even can be talking points when they share with their loved ones many years down the road.

Due to the uniqueness of this job, I get to work with clients of different nature and I get to witness many special events. At times, I even get up close and personal with celebrities, ministers and even attend special events such as Formula One Night Party which I just attended 2 weeks back when Formula One came to my country.

Additional Perks
Working in the weekend and doing preparation in the weekday actually helps me. Reason being that, I get my peace to complete my photo editing from the weekend and also working on designs for my next photobooth event when everyone else is busy working. I need not be rushing to offices and getting caught in traffic jams during the rush hour.

Closing
Some might dispute that working on the weekend is like eating into time that can be spend with family and loved ones because that's when they are most available. However, if we put in some effort to arrange, we can still find time to meet up with our loved ones. However, the joy and satisfaction that photography can bring and all the smiles that you see from the clients brings satisfaction to an even higher level that makes me want to continue doing this.
