Social Media Challenge - Fighting Lorkus

Prelude
Good day to all, how are all of you doing? It had been an eventful week for Splinterlands as there was so many commotion regarding the DHF proposal and the response by people whom are for and against the proposal. It even shook many of those whom had just been wanting to play the game without knowing about the blockchain and how it worked. No matter how things are going at the moment, most of us whom enjoyed the game are still doing our daily battles and enjoying the gameplay.

In today's post, I will be sharing a recent battle that I had with a battle tactics summoner, Lorkus which is considerably one of the most formidable summoners in the game. Typically, many of us when facing strong cards or lineups, we know we stand little chance to overturn and win the game. But that little chance really did happen, the joy and sense of accomplishment really beats everything. Also this battle is against a fellow PIZZA family member whom is in one of our PIZZA guilds for Splinterlands.

Selection Analysis
2 very different kind of lineup on showcase. Mine is a very typical commoner kind of lineup mixed with some Legendary and some Soul Bound cards. While my opponent kind of lineup is of a different level.

Let's start with my own selection. With this being an opportunity ruleset, I know I had to put Coastal Sentry in, since I showcased how good she is in my post last week, where this card is able to dish out a good 8 damage in a single turn. And along with this ruleset, I planted a Marksrat in between 2 heavy weights, Oshannus and Nerissa Tridawn whom will become even scarier upon activation of the martyr. What more I have River Hellondale to make sure this happens a second time to further make the 2 cards that will benefit from martyr even stronger. Oshannus will serve as the tank with its high speed, phase and void and of course the high health stats. Nerissa on the other hand serve as the big hitter. The lineup ends off with Deeplurker whom is there as a back pad to keep Coastal Sentry alive and also to do significant damage.

Now onto my opponent's lineup. Riftwing which is being designated as the tank with Scavenge to feed it and also the flying to increase changes of avoiding hits. Next will be Skok Dusklight with Weapons Training to give both Riftwing and Will-O-Wisp 2 magic attacks. Will-O-Wisp also carries very scary abilities such as such as Weaken which reduces the health for my whole lineup. Next will be Ravenhood Warden and Barashkukor. One gives protect while the other one is one big mean magic attacker. And lastly, there is the Baron Fyatt which has the headache ability Halving which will half our damage.

By one look, I am in for a tough battle with a very strong opponent. But, will my lineup falter to the pressure? We can only see how it progress.

Round by Round Synopsis

Round 1 - Battle Tactics selected, opponent gave Will-O-Wisp and Barashkukor Life Leech and Affliction which will make this 2 cards even stronger than what they had on themselves. Marksrat fell once and triggered Martyr. Then subsequently, Nerissa took out Ravenhood Warden. Barashkukor took out Marksrat for a 2nd time before Skok Duskblight took out River Hellondale. My side look dangerously weakened during this round.

Round 2 - Oshannus took out Riftwing, Coastal Sentry took out Baron Fyatt and Deeplurker took out Skok Duskblight. Wow, what a turn of events where my speedier lineup cleared out a big chunk of my opponent's lineup. The round ended with Barashkukor taking out my Coastal Sentry with just a single blast.

Round 3, While my lineup try to wean down the Will-O-Wisp, one big blast Barashkukor took out my Deeplurker. So painful, this thing really hit so hard.

Round 4-6 is an exchange between Oshannus and Nerissa and Barashkukor. Oshannus managed to phase off one attack from it and then in round 6, finally this towering beast is being taken out and we claim victory for this crazy match.

Battle Summary
Lorkus, Barashkukor and Baron Fyatt. These cards are really strong and no easy cards to face. Indeed they are really worth the price people pay for them. Together with all the other cards that is fielded by my opponent, this lineup is really no easy walk in the park and we are really facing a beast. But the good understanding of the ruleset and the right use of cards, there is still a chance for us to overturn the odds and bring home a victory that is so nice to remember. Every single card in my lineup did what they are designed to do and worked in synergy for this match to grab the victory.

Wrap Up
Once in a while, we will meet very strong opponents with very overwhelming lineups. In most situations, the chances of us losing is very high due to the difference in the quality of the cards. But in today's match, it showed that with the right use of strategy and selection of cards, even when we meet a lineup that is like an A team, we can still overcome them.
