🦉🦉Share you wildlife coin challenge - Owl of Athena 🦉🦉

avatar

It's been a while since I wanted to participate in one of those coin challenges by @welshstacker but I keep forgetting and missing the deadline 😂

Anyway, this week's theme is wildlife

The rules are simple

Share your "Wonderful wildlife" coins and

share an original photo of your coin

tell the back story of where, when and how much you paid

tell me if youre happy with the purchase and what first drew you to the coin.

Do you have any anecdotes, fun facts or personal stories around this coin? Please share

Funny thing is that a few days ago I packed most of my silver stack in a secure location to which I don't have easy & fast access. And all my animal coins are there.. But...

But there's one silver round I always have to my office as I love checking it out.

But why do I love this coin? Partly my Greek heritage. And partly because I love owls. They are just so damn cute! Who doesn't fucking love owls?

I used to own over 10 of these pieces, all bought close to spot by @goldrooster but I ended up gifting a lot of them to family and friends so my stack now is reduced to 5 owls. And I don't plan to give any more of them ^_^

In case you wonder, these little beauties are minted by the New Zealand mint.

And here's some info in case you have no idea what the Athenian owl is:

In Greek mythology, a little owl (Athene noctua) traditionally represents or accompanies Athena, the virgin goddess of wisdom, or Minerva, her syncretic incarnation in Roman mythology.[2] Because of such association, the bird—often referred to as the "owl of Athena" or the "owl of Minerva"—has been used as a symbol of knowledge, wisdom, perspicacity and erudition throughout the Western world. source and further reading

That's it for today friends.

Hoot Hoot !
