Welcome everyone to another vibrant Afritunes Week! I’m thrilled to kick off this 96th edition by showcasing a soul-stirring song that instantly connected with me titled “Air I Breathe” by singer-songwriter Jerry K.

As soon as I pressed play for the first time, Jerry’s smooth vocals and enchanting melodies gave me chills. But it was the profound lyrics around gratitude for each breath and recognizing God’s grace through life’s ups and downs that truly struck a chord. I knew instantly this was a song that needed to be shared with our community.

In the song, Jerry soulfully sings “You are the air I breathe, oh lord you are, lord I thank you for your grace and your warm embrace"
What a powerful reminder of the blessings surrounding us ,often hidden in plain sight , when we pause to purposefully reflect.

This past year has held peaks and valleys for us all, as every chapter does. Many in our community have worthy testimonies of breakthroughs, new beginnings, healed relationships and answered prayers. Others continue facing silent battles with health, grief, loss and uncertainty.

Yet for all of us, the unwavering gift of living to see another sunrise persists. We awake each morning with opportunity laid before us. How we choose to receive both challenges and gifts defines our growth.

Jerry’s lyrics poignantly pay homage to the only Creator capable of breathing new life into our lungs no matter the season. God as the oxygen sustaining our very heartbeat even when emotions threaten to deflate our sails. Through showing up with childlike faith and trust despite finite understanding, we claim resilience for another moment here.

I believe “Air I Breathe” carries a timely reminder for us all to gaze a bit deeper beyond surface-level happiness quests. Life’s richness unfolds through courageously leaning into growth opportunities however they manifest.
