How I Overcame Inferiority Complex.

Hello hive learners community and wonderful readers of my blog, it's another week and a new edition of the hive learners prompt. This week's prompt is to write about our inferiority complex. We all have moments when we feel like we are not good enough, but it is important to remember that we are all unique and special in our own way. It is important to have self-belief and confidence in our own abilities, and to not compare ourselves to others. Just remember to be kind to yourself and focus on your strengths.

An inferiority complex is a psychological condition in which a person experiences a continuous sense of self-doubt, inadequacy, and inferiority in contrast to others. It can cause emotions of worthlessness, self-esteem, and anxiety.

This takes me to this account that happened while I was still teaching at a school. A teacher who I had met there at the school, we decided to be friends due to our classes were far from each other, from the beginning this girl started making it known that she wanted to talk to me than just be more than colleagues I had already started thinking less of myself, there was a way she carried hersel.

I initially thought she was from a very rich home and the way she frequently made reference to her family, I had thought she had it all and I had nothing , how would she want to be friends with me, sometimes I avoided her on my way home from work, she might send a pupil to tell me we were going home together, but would always come up with an excuse to go home alone, aside from the way she talks, the way she dressed too was always so sophisticated, she always looked good ,though I always admired her and I always did compare myself to her which even made the matter more worse, I was dark skinned and she was light skinned and beautiful ,i was always conscious of myself whenever I was around her, I had belittled myself and felt so low of myself anytime she was around me.

But the day I had summoned courage to go to her house, I was glad I did that I did, a lot became clear and I think she also noticed I was always feeling down when I was around her and that was the reason she had been telling me to come visit her at home and I had been refusing, that day she sat me down and talked sense into my head , she said never allow people to define you by your appearance, and she said that was the reason why she took extra care of herself whenever she was outside.

From then on I had to change the way I had belittled myself and start building a more positive self-image. I recognized that my worth did not depend on my accomplishments and that I was capable of great things. I began to focus on my strengths and treat myself with kindness and respect.

It's how we paint pictures of people in our minds and force ourselves to believe that our case is worse. She was not as sophisticated as you had thought, she only held her own.

Inferiority complex can be really damaging. She must have been very observant too.

It is good to visit your friend's home instead of making assumptions about her. Inferiority Complex can break any relationship so be positive especially when you have someone special in your life.

Apart from visiting her home, I had used all my mind to belittle myself before really getting to know more about her

You are right, The appearance of a man does not define him. I'm happy you are able to build your self esteem back.

I think she belongs to that category of person who tries to hide their reality but sometimes their action gives a low feeling as you did. I am not saying that she did wrong but she also needs to be careful thinking that some may feel depressed because of her action.
Anyway, the comparison is not a good thing.

You judged her by her appearance, feeling she is better than you without even knowing her. Sometimes it happens people package themselves the way they want others to address them or look at them. Most times we appear like our problems instead of appearing better than our problems.

She did well in looking better than what she is passing through but you actually shouldn't let that define you or make you feel a sense of worthlessness.

Most times, it's the way people package themselves. Na all of us SAPA dey hold but we find a way to feel alive and push forward despite the challenges we might be facing.

It's a good thing you were able to recognize your worth on time. Thank you for sharing.

I was dark skinned and she was light skinned and beautiful

Many times I just wonder...
Black skinned people are more beautiful. Yes, that's how I see them. Maybe because I'm light in complexion
