What About Sex Education?

(Edited)
Hehehe..I've finally come across a topic that I would write about and show to my babies in the future.

Let me not brag too much, but my mind is telling me that my kids will be proud to have an amazing mother as myself..lol😌

I recently wrote about a similar post, where I shared about the teaching have been taught by my parents and would love to pass down to my kids and also upbringing I wouldn't want to pass down.

It's quite unfortunate that we're in a world where the word “Sex” is not meant to be spoken outrightly. Actually to be honest, In most cases, it's considered a sin. Whereas, everybody knows about it and 95% of individuals are involved in it.

Before writing on this, i decided not to just work base on my little knowledge as regarding ”Sex Education” Besides, I am still quite young too, you know.

Which made me did a quick research on what age a child should be taught sex education.
Please pardon me to divert a bit, I remembered once, coming across a video on Instagram sometime ago, where a young lady..hmm to be more detailed, she posed herself as that of a prostitute while making the video, that aside.

This young lady was explaining the importance of sex education to children, especially to christian mothers who see discussing such matters with a child as an immoral act or to be more plain a sin.

According to the lady, a growing child should already be aware of sex before the age of 13, alright I'll stop here and go back to my findings…

After scrolling through the internet, I was a little surprised about what the internet said. The first thing I saw was from age 2-3years.
Immediately i saw that,my first impression was “ahh”..lol
Like what does a 2 years old child know at all, how much more sex?

But then I calmed down o, you know why?……..alright, I'll tell you why.

The reason I think is because the world has had a drastic turn. Yeah, children nowadays have become more smarter, wiser and less ignorant than children of before..lol
Hardly can you firmly deceive a kid of today and if you have a child or children around you or by any means have a close relation with kids, you'll agree that once you've successfully deceived a kid, there's an high percentage chances of that kid not falling into same trick again and then you would have to use some other ways to trick that kid.

From their vocabulary also, you'll realize that a 2 years old kid's speech is quite audible and understandable at such a young age, and to round up with the kind of exposure we find in our world today.

In my opinion, I don't find 2 years too young to teach my kids about sex education if I notice any form of odd behavior or words coming out from their mouth.

And when I say 2 years, that doesn't mean I would pour out al the little details I know on them..oh no!

It'll be a gradual process, hint by hint.. The more you throw a hint the more they want to know, their curiosity grows and they crave to know more… I'd rather prefer my babies learning about sex from their lovely mom first than hearing it from an outsider first. I say this from my own personal experience.

Children are the most daring and very unpredictable, so I feel a sensitive topic as “sex education” should be told to them early in a proper and plain manner.

You make a great point that children are smarter and more curious than ever, and it's important to address their questions and concerns in a clear and age-appropriate way. I totally agree that it's better for kids to learn about sex from a trusted parent or caregiver rather than from outsiders or online sources. Your approach of gradual, hint-by-hint education makes sense.

I agree that sex education should be taught to children, but I was thinking early teens. Earlier than that I am not sure of, as I don't have the required info. At the end of the day parents need to take that call. However being a generation of Indians where we never talked about it with any authority figure, be it parents or teachers, we ended up learning all the adventurous and exaggerated things about sex rather than the scientific and social impact of the same. Many developing countries are still stuck in this loop due to which things like virginity, rape, harassment on streets, all are still prevalent because of this distorted world view about sex that they get from porn rather than a proper sex education class.

I am hopeful future generations will have better guidance.

I also think that age two is appropriate to start teaching our kids sex education, and yes one would have to start from the basics, as they grow the topic can advance with their age and level of understanding.

Learning about sex from outsiders is definitely not what any parent should want with their kids.

I agree. Children should be taught sex education from a very young age. It's a crazy world out there and children nowadays are way smarter and also curious to know things. So I believe it should start with their parents.

Right. Children should be taught sex education that is appropriate for their ages. You would be surprised how much they know.

Gone are the days when children were seen as knowing nothing, not now. The level of their smartness and sharp brain is alarming and so should be introduced into sex education early.
