The Skyline That I Appreciated Even More After A Trip To The Big City

Clouds

I have taken thousands of pictures from clouds in the past 8 years or so, when I started to look up in the sky more often. I've taken pictures in Spain, in several regions as well as Hungary, Malta and Macedonia where we went on trips. The common demeanour was always that the sky is not what it used to be when we were young and grew up and a cloud was a cloud. Today's clouds as we know them from our childhood are more an exception rather than the rule.

I've often tried to capture the weird shapes and forms in the sky but often face light pollution to capture how it truly is in reality, especially when not in nature and I hate that it does not reflect on how we perceive the way the sky looks in reality. Cloud engineering is definitely a thing and I kind of feel sad that it seems to have become the norm, at least where I live.

A killer view

Since we moved to this apartment at the end of last year, the view is the consistent thing that will make me smile every day. No matter how sleepy or grumpy I wake up, once I look out of our windows and see our view, I feel grateful and blessed to live here. I forget about all the worries I have for a few minutes and literally open the window to sniff in some air and not think about a thing but take in the view.

Lots of things are not nice about our area, but having such a view will force one to be reminded about these good and positive things every single day over and over again. Not a day went by that I didn't appreciate what I saw. No matter how cloudy or rainy and windy it was, I still find the view breathtaking.

After a trip to the big city Madrid last week, I appreciate this view even more. I learned that I could not properly function in such a crowded city anymore, Budapest was the last one I lived in, and I've always been a city girl, but not anymore. Madrid was definitely the most crowded of all and the serenity I feel looking out of my windows at home in the Andalusian coast is now even more appreciated.

Cloud formations

First, let's see what I consider the clouds as I know them from growing up:

clouds from the VIP lounge in Madrid April 23 2024.jpg

The picture above is taken at Madrid airport last week from the VIP lounge. A nice sight to look at: some true clouds as we learned to draw them as kids.

Then we have this one, from our balcony as well, sadly I could not capture it sharp, as it's usually an issue when the sky is this grey. A very lonely strange formed cloud hanging there. I never saw any of these before.

The last one for today, beautiful colours but look closer because if you look closely at this picture, in the right back you can see how there's a whole weird formation of straight lines formed. Sadly I could not come closer (I've seen it driving past the other street though) and I had no other option than to capture it with the lantern otherwise the magic would be over.

The colours are breath taking though, aren't they?

This is my entry to this week's Proof Of Brain photo contest by @friendlymoose, which you can find here.

All pictures have been taken by me with my smartphone.

Yeah that's not a daily thing though. I kind of look forward to seeing that more often now that we have the big view from the balcony. Patience.. lol

All the more special. In Canada, we get those kinds of deep skies in Spring and Fall because of the changing of the amount of light we receive.

Oh I'd love to visit Canada one day, I've seen such beautiful nature online and in movies that I'm very curious to the country. Hopefully, one day..

One thing I really miss during these beautiful sky moments (and full moons!!) is a decent camera because the light pollution is something I can't seem to be able to rule out with my phone. Which is sad because I truly appreciate nature and love to capture it. It makes me happy..

Oe love those colours in the sky telling you all what kind of weather it will be.

also the shapes of these clouds, they tell you a lot on what the weather is doing and shifting as hot and cold and dry and moisty air bump into each other .
More colour!
