Last Saturday was a good one for me personally, I had such a productive day and managed to create some content ahead for my personal account as well as a blog for CineTV this week. After taking several weeks off while I was mostly dealing with my back issues as well as spending as much time possible with my daughter, I could not set my mind to work during these weeks. It took me some time to adjust to the daily pains and med intake until I can get treatment (hopefully) at the end of the month but now that kids are back to school, I was happy to get back into the normal flow.
I never mind working during the weekends, as long as it's not the whole day. This Saturday I sat behind the computer for a few hours as I longed to sit in an air conditioned room again and this can only be done either in the evenings when my boyfriend is done working OR in the weekends. The past month I have not used this option once because I simply could not sit long enough to do anything properly so when I did last weekend and even managed to get several pieces of content read, I was very pleased.
None of us was thinking about dinner so usually that means we end up going for tapas and why not celebrate the final Saturday before school starts and have a few hours of good company and great food? This restaurant doesn't open before 8 PM and no food can be found before 8.30 so when I had this brilliant proposal to check if they had a free table for us, I was very pleased to find out they had one 45 minutes later and that our hunger would be stilled within an hour or so. The great thing about tapas is that they are usually served out a lot faster than a full plate. Ideal for these hungry moments!
This restaurant is so cool in terms of ambiance that we love going there. I still have to share this in another post because I never shared these. I just have to search for them in my old folders because they got lost in the emigration pictures, lol. Today I will just share the tapas we had on Saturday, for me starting with a "Salmonrejo" as shown below:
I saw this on the menu many times but never ordered it until my friend did the last time we went there together. She told me it's a typical Spanish chilled soup with tomatoes and bread. I tried it that time and I became a fan instantly. It's a great starter and very nice during the hot summer days as well.
Above some chicken dish my boyfriend ordered, sorry I forgot the name but it was quite sweet and a tiny bit spicey. Not bad, but not great either if you ask me.
I then ordered a spring roll which I didn't capture on picture because I've done so before, lol so I already shared it in another post before. There was a taco ordered by my boyfriend which he already took a bite of before I could take a picture, he was hungry!
Above you can see the final tapa I ordered: samosas. I never had them before but my friend did last time and I was curious to try them. She offered me to try them but I was too full last time so I had no clue they were spicey. I liked them but it was too spicey to my liking.
The banger of the evening was the tapa above it was an octopus toast or something like it. The toast is made from corn I think and on top of it there's a variety of veggies, guacamole and octopus with a salsa. Now let me tell you that I thought it looked so delicious that I took a bite while I really can't stand anything with octopus normally, I think it looks appalling and I find it a sad as they are such intelligent animals so I found out after watching a highly interesting documentary called My Octopus Teacher. If you have not seen it, check it out.
But as I took a bite I was so surprised by the combination of flavours that I seriously considered ordering one for myself next time. That was while my boyfriend kept saying he didn't find any octopus while eating. Once he said "I discovered the octopus" my craving for one was gone, lol. I can't help it but I find it hard to put myself over the fact that it's such a weird texture and I will probably stick to asking for a bite from his tapa again next time, lol. But I like to try new things that I'd never had before as sometimes they surprise me and then I have another thing I can order from the menu.
It was a nice Saturday evening with good food and company, followed by a lazy Sunday! I hope your weekend was good, thanks for stopping by..
They all look delicious! makes me want to go out and treat myself something nice too 😊
And then you should! I'm trying to lower the tapa moments a bit to save up some money but honestly, some days I really need to get out and then tapas is a cheap way of getting some food as well, lol.
The different meals look absolutely divine. I don't know but I'm not quite sure I'd love octopus with that sucky texture.
But I'm glad you're having fun.
Thanks :) I never really felt like trying octopus honestly, but definitely not after seeing that documentary. I try eating less meat in general because of other animals being treated badly as well, but I'm honest that I'm not ready to let go of it fully just yet.
Nooooo don't eat the octopus 🦑. I tell ya there are my favorite, but being so intelligent I force myself AWAY from the plate.
Glad to hear there is some improvement x
I never wanted to try them honestly, I'm not keen on trying them thanks to the looks but sometimes my boyfriend eats them as they come in these shellfish dishes he sometimes eats. That documentary was impressive so I don't think I'd ever force myself to eat more than such a bite from that dish, it was mostly other things anyway.
And yes, some, it goes up and down. Yesterday evening (after I wrote this post) I was cooking and went through the roof standing there. Today I will force myself to be more out of office ;)
Thanks for checking in, hope you are doing great!
the pictures alone are making me crave this. looks yummy and definitely will be delicious.
Sorry about that :) lol Hope you have some food near!
