Voting power bar

While reading your emails, you may (or may not) have noticed the voting power bar above the emails. I personally didn't really pay attention to it the first days as I was trying to grab my head around other aspects of the site and getting familiar with everything step by step. As a Hive member, I probably could have known that this voting bar would have increased power once stakes are added. To people not familiar with the voting system on Hive, it may be a totally new concept. Let's walk through this in a few simple steps and you will understand how it works.

The importance of voting

I didn't realise that voting the emails would be an important aspect for the author to earn Listnerd tokens, but it makes perfect sense now. While I already noticed the voting arrows, I didn't do anything with them until yesterday. I send out an email and this email now first needs to receive 20 upvotes for it to get whitelisted. And then I can start earning with this email.

Unless you have an enterprise membership and are sending a SOLO email (1x a month) then your email will be verified immediately and share in the rewards pool of that evening.

When you read an email, click on the link, you get mail points, which is nice for you, but wouldn't it be great to support the author as well by showing your appreciation and upvoting the content so that this counts towards the earnings? I bet you would want to see those upvotes drip in quickly as well once you send out your first email!
So it's really important that you vote the email if you have enough voting power. If not, I'm now going to show you how to increase your voting power (and amount of votes each day) in a few steps.

The higher your CTP stake, the more your voting power increases

It's quite simple, your CTP stake is allowing you to vote on emails. Like on Hive, your Hive Power is allowing you to make a certain amount of transactions each day. When used, it takes time to reload. It's really that simple.

I only staked 70 CTP, to begin with, and therefore I could only vote 4 times.

I decided that I wanted to increase my stake as I see how this benefits
a) me earning staking rewards
b) the author getting rewarded thanks to the upvotes I can give
After all, I would really appreciate the upvotes myself as well!

Buying CTP in Listnerds

To make it easy on you, I will now show you how to buy CTP on Listnerds instead of Hive Engine. Click on CTP at the top of your page, and you will see the option to buy and sell CTP tokens. Make sure you have swap.hive available in your Hive Engine wallet to do so.

Fill in the amount you wish to buy OR the amount swap.hive you wish to spend. And Click on BUY CTP.

The order was successful, give it a few minutes before it appears in your wallet on Listnerds.

Once your CTP has been transferred to Listnerds, you can stake the tokens. I wrote a tutorial how to do this.

Now you see the voting power bar is already filled up a bit more! If you go to your inbox, you can see how many votes you can now give out.

Awesome! I'm very pleased to be able to vote 12 times now, and that's not even a fully loaded voting power bar.

How-To cast your vote on a mail?

Now that you have increased your voting power, it's time to put the power to use and start voting those incoming emails. When you've read an email, you will see these voting arrows on the right of your email:

When you click on the blue arrow, you upvote, the red arrow, on the other hand, is a downvote. Personally, I never downvote anything on Hive, so I will probably refrain from doing so on Listnerds as well, instead, I would most likely save my vote for a new email to upvote. Of course, this is all up to you completely. Your stake, your choice!

Once you upvoted, your vote counts towards the author's total votes, where 20 votes are needed before the email is whitelisted and starts earning. Here's an example from my very first email that I sent out as a test, to get to know how this works:

Until now, only 5 people have upvoted my email, meaning that this mail is not earning any tokens yet. This can be because only a small amount of people opened the email, or maybe they didn't like the content, or maybe they were just out of voting power like I was. Time will probably give some more insight. Once the email reaches 20 upvotes, the email is verified and you start earning Listnerds. Remember that slow and steady always wins the race! We are all learning here.

Nice follow up from the previous post.

If you have CTP delegated, does it also counts towards voting power? I can't verify this yet because I'm having some troubles linking the acc with my hive acc

These two stakes are separate, so the one CTP stake you have on Hive Engine will help you to vote and receive curation rewards from those votes. And the stake on Listnerds is the stake that will give you voting power on Listnerds. On top of that, you will receive rewards from the pool as well for your stake (CTP as well as Listnerds).

But it seems that only the CTP power is counting towards your voting power, so I made sure that I upgraded that first, will now buy some portions of Listnerds each day because I received 1/3 of a Listnerds in rewards this morning (the price of 1 token is 2 Hive, so that's actually sweet each day) and I want to make that some more as well.

You can compare it to the staking on Splinterlands, it generates rewards on what's happening there, not on Hive Engine or Hive voting.

I really enjoy your work and the fact that you are writing about ListNerds, as I am a huge fan. This statement you made earlier in the article "Unless you have an enterprise membership, then you are skipping these requirements." is not a true statement.
The Enterprise Membership comes with a lot of great things but automatically Verified emails is not one of them.
Enterprise members like myself get 1 Solo-Mail credit per month. We can send 1 solo-mail for free. Solo-mails are automatically verified and get a share of the ListNerds reward pool the evening that it is sent.
The regular emails that we can send to 5,000 people plus our downline for free must receive +20 votes and wait 7 - 10 days to share in the ListNerds reward pool.
