Don't Sleep on the Lore!...A Splinterlands' Snippet

Greetings, Splinterlands!

"Don't sleep on the 'Lore of Splinterlands'!"

These are the words that I always remember Nate Aguila saying in a town hall one day.

For me, the lore is an aspect of Splinterlands that people are sleeping on, myself included. And it wasn't until this week that I found out that there was an 'Encyclopedia of the Splinterlands'!

During this week's podcast with Nate, we asked him about this mythical book and he dropped some golden nuggets that we knew the Splinterlands' community would really appreciate.

He discussed the history of the encyclopedia, and the collaborative effort from the community to write this book.

There was a contest held to create the lore of Splinterlands and the winners would receive a copy of the 'Encyclopedia of the Splinterlands'.

As legend has it, just over a hundred copies of these were printed and sent out to the people who won the honour of 'Masters of Lore' in the contest.

So, there are actual physical copies of these out there! How much would they go for now I wonder? Would people be willing to sell is the next question.

I personally love this part of the story. The Splinterlands' community, the OGs, actually helped to write the lore of Splinterlands, they helped to create this world that we as players love.

The monsters, the maps, the myths, and the lore were written by the players! Take a moment to take that in if you will. I'd be interested to know what other games share this accolade.

For those of us that arrived too late to particiapte in this contest, we are fortunate that there is a website, Splinter Lore where we can look, read and discover the lore behind Splinterlands. And rumour has it, there could be a new, updated edition of the 'Encyclopedia of Splinterlands' hitting the shelves soon!

Now, does the current game, and new editions follow this original lore? This is the question that we posed to Nate, and you guys need to listen to the video to find out!

I promise you, it's exciting times ahead, and you won't be disappointed!

And we'd love to hear from the people who actually put the time and effort into creating the lore behind Splinterlands. Please feel free to comment below and if you'd be interested in hopping on to the podcast, feel free to reach out, we'd love to hear more stories from the creators.

Enjoy!
